We report a case of spindle cell lipoma in the maxillary alveolar region. A 57-year-old man noticed an asymptomatic mass in the right maxillary region a few years ago before first visit. Thereafter, he visited to our department caused by the enlargement of the mass.

Physical examination revealed the tumorous mass (25×20mm) covered with normal mucosa at the right maxillary alveolar region. Image examination indicated a nonuniform mass without obvious bone resorption in CT images, and a nonuniform high signal mass in T1-, T2-weighted and fat-suppressed T2-weighted MRI images. Histological findings of incisional biopsy suggested lipoma and surgical excision was carried out under general anesthesia. A histopathological diagnosis of spindle cell lipoma was made. No evidence of recurrence was observed for 1 year and 3 months following the operation.

Angiosarcoma is a malignant tumor originating from vascular endothelial cells. It is extremely rare in the oral cavity. We described a case of angiosarcoma of the tongue.

A 79-year-old woman presented with a tumor located on the left lateral edge of tongue that measured 11 × 10 × 3mm. The tumor was soft and dark red. A biopsy specimen revealed a vascular malignant tumor. She underwent for radical surgical excision under general anesthesia. Thus, the histopathological diagnosis of the tumor was angiosarcoma. Immunohistochemically it was confirmed with analysis of the specimen revealed positive staining for CD31 antibody. Although postoperative adjuvant therapy was required, the patient denied any treatments because of her advanced age. No recurrence or metastasis has been observed 4 years after surgery. This patient needs to be followed up carefully.

We report a case of epithelioid cell granuloma on the lower right gingiva that led to the diagnosis of ulcerative colitis and improved oral lesions along with treatment for ulcerative colitis. The patient, an 18-year-old female with no medical history of interest, was referred to the oral surgery department of a university hospital for swelling of the lower right gingiva. A depression, with a ulcerative lesion with partial erosion, was observed. A biopsy was taken, given a malignant tumor was suspected. However, epithelioid cell granuloma was diagnosed based on the histopathological examination; thus, sarcoidosis, Crohn's disease, and tuberculosis were suspected. The patient was transferred to our hospital and consulted with the Internal Medicine department. Careful gastroenterology and ophthalmology examinations ultimately led to the diagnosis of ulcerative colitis. Both the digestive symptoms and oral lesions improved with the start of mesalazine treatment for ulcerative colitis.
