ジャーナル フリーIn order to find out useful fluxes for aluminizing, cleaning action of fluxes for oxide films on steel surface, solubility of Al2O3 as flux, and the fluxing effect in the boundary of steel and molten aluminum in case of dipping, were examined using chloride, fluoride, boride, carbonate, etc.
As a result, it may be concluded that the flux for aluminizing should satisfy the following conditions:
1. The steel surface should be wet.
2. The Al2O3 film should be removed by dissolving.
3. Flux should free from the aluminum-steel boundary.
4. No gas film forming in the aluminum-steel boundary is allowed.
5. No degrading aluminum purity is allowed.
The flux of the eutectic composition of KF-AlF3 system (54.2% AlF3) is most excellent, and next comes the flux of NaF-AlF3 system.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (1369K) -

ジャーナル フリーAlthough a number of suitable methods for plating other metals on aluminum have recently been developed, few researchers have investigated plating on aluminum and its surface roughness. It is also true, today, that it is sometimes necessary to get the surface as smooth as possible, keeping up the initial surface roughness of aluminum basis, as in the case of electroforming industry.
The authors experimented plating on aluminum pretreated by means of zinc immersion method, and examined the surface roughness of basis and plated coatings at each stage of the plating process.
The result is as follows:
If the suitable conditions for plating on aluminum are selected, it is possible to deposite the other metals on aluminum, where the plated coatings show the same surface roughness as that of the aluminum basis.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (8039K) -

ジャーナル フリーStudies on a microscopical rust speck calculation methods to evaluate the preventive ability of the soft film type rust preventive oils, are reported here. This evaluation method was applied to the case of Humidity Cabinet Test or Storage Box Test, and recognized to be useful compared with the result obtained from Contact Angle Test. Distribution of rust specks, calculated at random in a microscopical field of standardized magnification, follows Poisson's distribution, but that of the mean value in several fields follows normal distribution. Rust specks in the microscopical fields are influenced by surface finishing of test specimens, corrosive conditions of testing methods, test period, etc. So that it is necessary to control them for the sake of the standardization of this method.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (2978K) -
