4 as an addition was studied by using infra-red spectra, thermal analysis, fluorescent X-ray analysis etc. Hydrated chromium oxide released approximately 2 moles of H
2O by heating it up to 360°C and about 1mol of H
2O during heating it at a temperature from 550 to 620°C and changed to Cr
2O
3 crystal. Sulfate radical was bound in the chemical structure and its initial amount was estimated to be in a range of 0.11 to 0.14 as SO
42-/Cr molar ratio in the hydrated chromium oxide film. Sulfate radical in the hydrated chromium oxide film was substituted by OH
- and dissolved into hot water. The dissolving reaction seemed to proceed apparently with a form of firstorder reaction. It was concluded that the rational formula of the hydrated chromium oxide film should be CrO(OH)H
2O.
