    The authors formerly reported that the boundary tensions among solid, lipuid and gas were the important factors next to the volatility of liquid for the characteristic temperature, at which vapor film breaks down, of quenching media in the cooling process. Later the differences of cooling ability among various liquids were often explained by the boundary tensions in their reports, but these explanations were not sufficient for the lack of definite data.
    In this report, therefore, the views of the authors were complemented with appropriate data: that is, the difference of the characteristic temperature were explaind by the boundary tensions in such cases as aqueous solutions of NaCl, etc. (non-volatile solute), mineral oil containing some polar substances, and deteriorated oil. The difficulties to find suitable reagents which could improve the cooling ability of mineral oil were pointed out. In order to elevate the characteristic temperature the wettness is the important factcr next to the volatility of the liquid.

    The result of the test of electrodeposition of chromium on aluminium is favorable with the following preparation and deposition conditions:
    Aluminium surface is first etched by hydrochloric acid, then dipped for 3-10 seconds in mixed acid solution of 3 parts of HNO3 (sp. gr. 1.42) and 1 part of HF (50%). On thus prepared surface, as an intermediate film, zinc or copper is electrodeposited from cyanide bath.
    Chromium deposition from the bath of 250g/l of CrO3 and 1.25g/l H2SO4, at the temperature of more than 40°C, by the current density of 30A/dm2, and for more than 30min is pretty thin but nice and tight.

    The results of the researches about the relation between the contents of the three constituents, ZrO2, K2O, and MoO3, in the frit for flame spraying of vitreous enamel, and the resistability to acid as well as the coefficient of thermal expansion are as follows;
    (1) There exists a definite relation between the amount of the frit dissolved and the concentration of hydrochloric acid used.
    (2) The resistibility to acid is simply and rapidly determined by titration.
    (3) The addition of ZrO2 does not deteriorate the resistability to acid.
    (4) MoO3 seems to have a special effect on the coefficient of thermal expansion. The addition of even a small amount of MoO3 makes it twice as large as those of ZrO2 and K2O systems, but further addition of MoO3 doesn't make any difference in the value of the coefficient.
    (5) By the addition of MoO3, the softening begins at about 200°C.

    The strength of adhesion on aluminum plate treated by phosphoric acid is compared with respect to the following two different methods of treatment; by one method the phosphor compound remains on the surface of aluminum plate and by the other it does not.
    The result: On 12% Si-Al-alloy plate, both methods of phosphoric acid treatment are equally effective for the stronger adhesion, but on 2S, 56S, and 10% Mg-Al-alloy plates the former treatment is more effective than the latter.
    The effect of the amount of silicon in aluminum alloys on the adhesion of paint is also studied. For the favorable adhesion the aluminum alloy should contain more than the critical 4% of silicon in case of the former treatment, and more than the critical 7% of silicon in case of the latter.
