  • 装飾クロムメッキの耐食性に関する研究 (第3報)

    An acetice acid salt spray test was carried out on the copper-nickel-chromium plated steel panels with thicker chromium layer in three types of chromium plating bath, each of which differed in tendency to cracking. From the corrosion data fallowing conclusions were obtained.
    i) Thicker chromium plated in high concentrated crack-free chromium bath consistently increases corrosion resistance. However, it is feared that in the actual outdoor exposure the visible cracks induced by residual tensile stress in the chromium layer may appear along the high current density areas of plated parts.
    ii) Thicker chromium plated in micro-cracked chromium plating bath containing fluoride also seems to be very effective in increasing corrosion resistance.
    In this case the stress is released by micro-cracking, visible macro-cracking does not occur even in the high current density areas.

    Wettability of lead-tin solder against metal surface jointed together is one of the important characteristics which affect soldering operation and strength.
    Studies on a standardization of testing method of solder wettability by contact angle, which is one of the important inspection items for quality control of solders, are reported here.
    The contact angles of melted solder drops on a test specimen in electric furnace were measured by goniometer dynamically during heating and melting them by a standardized procedure or also measured statically when they were cooled.
    From results of various factorial experiments and analyses, it is found that lead-tin ratio of solder, melting temperature, fluxes, kinds of metals, cleanness of metal surface, etc. have effects on results, and especially both fluxes and kinds of metals influence them.
    Standard error of contact angle measured by goniometer constructed by authers was about 10°, but it was found enough for contact angle used as a characteristics of solder wettability inspections.

    Thickness of alloyed layer in aluminum-diffusion-coated steel which prepared by packing method was determined by such methods as microscopy, electromagnetic, micro-hardness and electrolytic tests. Some degrees of scatter in the data are observed.
    Width of scatter in within the order of 1/100mm even in this laboratory experiment., It is, therefore, reasonable that thickness of the alloyed layer could be determined with order of 1/10mm in commercial practice.

    The result of measuring the amount of cracks caused by tension test of the specimens of copper plate nickeldeposited 10μ thick was as follow:
    1) In general, the bigger the hardness of the nickeldeposit is the smaller is its elongation. But the elongation of bright nickeldeposits in Weisberg's bath is greater for high hardness than those in other bright nickel plating baths (containing the first class and second class brighteners).
    2) Relation between stress and elongation of the nickel deposit depends upon the constituents of the bath. In the case of using non bright nickel baths and Weisberg's bath, tensile stress and elongation are comparatively high. Stress in the nickel deposit from the bath contaning first class brighteners only is compressive and its elongation is smaller than that of non bright nickeldeposits. As for the stress in the nickel deposit from the both containing the first and second class brighteners, the bigger the tensile stress, the smaller is the elongation.
    3) When the baths is agitated by air, the stress and hardness of the deposited nickel are increased and the elogation decreased.
    4) Addition of surface activating agents has no effect upon elogation.
    5) Better brightness and leveling of the nickel deposit result in the smaller elongation.
