    (1) Post-transfusion hepatitis occurred in eleven paients out of eighty-two in-patients received transfusion with whole blood or blood plasma during recent five years.
    (2) Incidence of the hepatitis was related to the total amount of blood transfused. Posttransfusion hepatitis occurred more frequently among the patients transfused larger amount of bood.
    (3) There was no significant difference between the incidence of post-transfusion hepatitis in the patients transfused with fresh blood and that with stored blood only.
    (4) Changes in the results of hepatic function tests were followed during the course of the hepatitis in these patients. Serum GPT level was higher than SGOT at the onset of jaundice and recovery of SGPT level to normal ranges was delayed as compared with that of SGOT. Increase in serum iron level with decrease in UIBC was observed in these cases.

Powder of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer was orally given to rats in a daily dose of 0.10.2g for 61 consecutive days from 35 to 96 days of age.
There was no remarkable change in growth of either male or female rats, nor was observed any noticeable difference in vaginal opening, the first estrus, and the succeeding sexual cycle between experimental and control females. After sacrifice, organs (hypophysis, thyroid, submaxillar gland, thymus, adrenal, spleen, heart, liver, kidney, testis, epididymis, prostate, seminal vesicle, M. levator ani, ovary and uterus) from all the animals were weighed and further subjected to detailed histological investigation, but without any remarkable change.
Next, adult female rats were subcutaneously injected for 8 days with 10 mg/day of methanol extract of Panax ginseng, purified ginseng sapogenin, and their effects on body weight and sexual cycle were investigated, but without any remarkable change.
Nor could the weighing and histological investigation of organs find any noticeable change.

A difference between thyroid hormone transaminase and tyrosine-α-ketoglutaric transaminase was made clear by following results.
    1) Hydrocrtisone acetate caused approximately a 3 fold stimulation of hepatic tyrosine-α-ketoglutaric transaminase (in soluble fraction) during 4 hour-induction Period, whereas this steroid had little if any effect on the thyroid hormone transaminase (in mitochondria of rat kidney)
    2) Partially purified tyrosine-α-ketoglutararic transaminase had only one-eleventh the activity of partially purified thyroid hormone transaminase in transamination of L-thyroxine.

Factors of individual difference in the health of older persons were studied by means of chronological age, several physical strength and social competences.
Judging from the major findings it was postulated that the adjustment to aging depends primarily on socio-psychological ability than the biological one.
Preventive approach, therefore, for non-infectious chronic illnesses would seem to play lesser role on the happiness of older persons, It seems reasonable that adequate setting for socio-psychologic needs is more essential for the aged even if there may be minor disability; maintenance of various roles and minimum bodily activity, coexistence of spouse, these were considered most important factors in achieving the health of elderly people.
