The evaluation for Electro-Gustometry as the quantitative measurement on the taste function is now settled down but more improvement is necessary when using clinically as one of the. apparatuses of the routine tests.
At the time when making newly the elgustometer, it is important to consider about the load resistance, especially about the body resistance. As a clinical use, the apparatus capable of estimating the stimulus current, that is pre-set on the potentiometer scale, are more convenient than the direct readings of ammeter during stimulation. To omit errors in measurements. resulted in the former, the internal resistance requires 40 times of the body resistance: output ranged 0-50μA to internal resistance of 8 MΩ, and 400μA to 1 MOmega;. In this method the. strength of the current is not influenced by any factors. We made some foundamental experimentson the relationships between this internal resistance and stimulus current.
In our new elgustometers made in the former form direct scale-reading before the stimulation. became possible.
On the other hand, new transistorized elgustometer with the feedback mechanism in which the high voltage of the power source was unnecessary was made, too. The capacity of this one was surprisingly accurate. This new transistorized elgustometer is much useful in the clinical examinations.
