Although many studies have been reported on bacteriological investigation in chronic sinusitis, the significance of bacterial infection in the production of chronic sinus disease are still undetarmined.
Systematization of bacteriological investigation is very important since the method and the results reported by various researchers lack the standarization.
Especially the study on chronic sinusitis in children is scarce. In the present investigation, the author selected 277 cases of chronic sinusitis among children between the age of 4 to 14.
Bacteriological specimen was obtained from the maxillary sinus.
The first part is concerned with Bacterial identification and their sensitivity, and the second part is concerned with the relationship between the clinical manifestation and the major bacterial invader.
