A 41-year-old male who have suffered from ulcerous lesions in the pharynx and larynx is reported.
Pathological examination showed chronic inflammation without any evidence of malignancy.
The patient was examined at the dermatology department of Kitazato University and was told, that the diagnosis was reticulosis.
Ulcerous lesions of the pharynx may be caused by syphilis, tuberculosis, carcinoma, blood diseases or candidasis.
Differential diganosis of these diseases is very important.
This case was treated by irradiation and anti-cancer drugs with a favorable result.
Reticulosis could be regarded as malignant. Four different types of malignant lymphoma are recognized.
This case was considered as follicular lymphoma from its clinical course and pathological findings.
The author stressed the importance of various examinations such as repeated pathological examinations before treatment is instituted.
