This paper shows that there are some particular interesting points in anatomical, physiological, bacterial, morphological, biochemicol and immunoclinical observation of humanand animal tonsils.
1) Microcirculatory observation was extended to the anterior palatine arch and thence to the palatine tonsil. The vascular pattern changed gradually and finally capillaryloops disapeared completely.
2) Mycoplasma strains were isolated from removed tonsils by the PPLO culture technique and were microbiologically and serologically examined.
Beside, pathogenic bacteria, especially Streptococcus hemolyticus and Staphylococcus aureus from the same tonsils, were investigated in relation with mycoplasma.
3) It was carried out with pathologic, electron microscopic and histochemical studies of tonsillar morphology.
4) The analysed substances were: acid soluble protein, steroid, thymus substances like hormone, compound related to nucleic acid and various enzymes in hypertrophied, chronic and focused tonsil extracts.
5) The quantities of IgA, IgG and IgM were determined in sera and tonsil extracts.
6) Serum complements and immunoglobulin level were observed during tonsillar provocations tests and tonsillectomy.
7) The influence on autonomic nervous function, thyroid function or serum steroid hormone of chronic tonsillitis was examined.
