We report a relatively rare case thyroid metastasis of renal cell carcinoma. The patient was a 77-year-old. woman who underwent total extirpation right nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma in 1993, and 9 years after surgery metastases to the lung and pancreas were discovered. Ten years after the surgery she came to our department complaining of the tumor on the right side of her neck. A mass was palpable in the right anterior region of the neck and CT showed a tumor at the upper portion of the right lobe of the thyroid gland. Thyroid metastasis of renal cell carcinoma was suspected based on the clinical and imaging findings. Although metastases were present at other sites, resection of the thyroid tumor was judged necessary for airway maintenance, and subtotal thyroidectomy was performed. Diagnosis of thyroid metastasis of renal cell carcinoma was made based on the macroscopic appearance of the tumor, the histopathological findings and the results of immunostaining. Our department plans follow-up in order to detect local recurrence early.

We investigated the usefulness of the early treatment of pollinosis with Pranlukast and Bepotastine besilate and Beclometasone through a field research approach. We compared the effects of the combination therapy with Pranlukast and Bepotastine besilate and Beclometasone in the season of mass scatter. At the beginning and final session of the field research, there was no significant difference in eosinophilic cationic protein levels, the ventilation of the nasal cavity and visual analog scale evaluation of sneezing, runny nose or daily life. There were some significant differences in the score of sneezing, stuffy nose and daily life and the generalization of the JRQLQ #1 (Japan Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionaire) between the combination therapy with Pranlukast and Bepotastine besilate and the therapy with Beclometasone alone. The early treatment with any medicine for allergic rhinitis had a possibly useful function. The combination therapy with Pranlukast and Bepotastine besilate was more useful for improving the subjective symptoms than the therapy with Beclometasone alone.

A hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma (HCCC) arising in the base of the tongue is reported herein. A 65-year-old man presented with hemosputa. A biopsy suggested the presence of a malignant tumor. The tumor was localized in the left base of the tongue and was endoscopically excised using a transoral approach. The tongue was then reconstructed using a set back tongue flap method. Eighteen months after the operation, no evidence of reccurence or distant metastasis has been seen.

Liposarcoma, the second most common soft-tissue sarcoma in adults, generally originate most often in the extremities or retroperitoneum, less frequently in the head and neck, and rarely in the neck.
We report a case of myxoid type liposarcoma of the neck.
A 58-year-old man with a 1-year history of enlarging painless neck swelling, 60×40 mm in the front-lateral was found in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to have a mass extending between the sternohyoid muscle and the platysma. We extirpated the tumor with no concrescence among the circumferential organizations. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of myxoid type liposarcoma. The tumor was completely covered with velamen, and the surgical margin was not involved in the tumor. No adjuvant therapy has been given, and the man remains recurrence-free 14 months after surgery.

Using several types of tentative surgical navigation, we have unexpectedly found marked differences among them in the settlement of patient's head, scanning, camera, surface registration, and calibration.
The BrainLab's Vector Vision ® optical tracking navigation series are dramatically efficient because of their precise, speedy laser registration without headsets, markers, or face masks. The infrared camera catches the signals of the laser beam from the z-touch ® pointer and reflections of infrared rays with passive marker technology to ensure effective registration and calibration.
We discuss what type of optical tracking navigation in surgery is better and more promising at this time.
