To improve the aesthetics of pantyhose, a questionnaire survey on beautiful leg was conducted among Japanese women. For an attractive leg, both two and three-dimensional appeal are necessary. Results revealed that, in women's image of a beautiful leg, the mean size ratio for a two-dimensional leg is the width of 1/π the girth of the ankle : the width of 1/π the girth of the thigh : the distance from ankle to thigh = 1.00 : 2.76 : 11.20. The desirable mean area ratio of gradation effect for an attractive three-dimensional leg is high lightness : middle lightness : low lightness = 47.55 : 26.51 : 25.94 (%). Accordingly, a new product was designed and developed and a wear experiment was conducted. The study examined the gradation effects of lightness and visual impression of dyed pantyhose fabrics made from seven different types of single covered yarns with combing of colored polyurethane core yarn and nylon covering yarn. The results show that, concerning the leg aesthetics in pantyhose made from the single covered yarn with the colored core yarn, (1) gradation effect or three dimensional appeal is affected by the fineness of the colored polyurethane core yarn; (2) color effect is affected by the fineness of the nylon covering yarn; (3) light transmittance or sheerness is affected by the covering level of the covering yarn. Moreover, for Japanese women's leg, the novel pantyhose with three-dimensional appeal are developed.

Plastics are basically good insulators of electricity and thus cannot shield against electromagnetic waves. This property causes major problems for humans in our society as well as malfunctions of electronic devices from static electricity. To overcome these problems, production of conductivities plastics is necessary to give to eliminate static electricity, and perform electromagnetic shielding. Pellets mixed with metal fibers, which are currently used in an injection molding process, are produced: metal fibers made by a bundle drawn process are covered with resin by means of extrusion method and then, chopped. This production process has numerous problems such as a complicated process and requires high cost.
In this study, we therefore proposed a laminated coiled sheet shaving method and developed a method of producing pellets mixed with metal fibers at low cost. At the same time, we also conducted investigations on the method of producing conductive plastic sheets using a compression molding, and confirmed that the molded products and the plastic sheets with approximately 10-3Ω·cm of volume resistivity can be obtained.
