The performance of fabrics, e.g., hand, mechanical properties, heat transfer, etc., depends on fiber materials and fabric constructions. The relationships between the performance and its influence factors are not clear quantitatively. Therefore, the fabric design is made, generally speaking, on the basis of the empirical knowledge.
The purpose of this paper is to understand the above relations quantitatively by the method of the multivariate analysis. The method used mainly is the quantification theory I, since the raw material cannot be expressed with values and the predictor variables of the fabric performance have multivariate connections each other.The possibility to connect quantitatively the fabric performance with raw materials and fabric constructions has been predicted by this pretest. A part of the results is shown in the table 10 in the paper as an example.
