The primary mission of the Earth Simulator is to comprehend the mechanisms of the ever-changing Earth's environment and to make its reliable prediction. The unexpectedly good performance of the Earth Simulator, however, can not only make a quantitative contribution to elevating the resolution and accuracy of simulations, but can also provide us with an excellent tool that enables us to resolve an entangled, complex system as it stands. This latter aspect leads us to develop "holistic" approach that can reveal the way the entangled whole system works.

The BESS-Polar experiment is being prepared to search for primordial antiparticle in cosmic rays by long duration balloon flights circulating over Antarctica. It aims to search for cosmic-ray antiprotons that might be produced from novel primary origins such as evaporation of primordial black holes or of annihilation of supersymmetric particle, neutralinos. A concept of "thin superconducting magnet spectrometer" enables to realize a large geometrical acceptance with very uniform magnetic field, and it may realize highly sensitive search for primordial cosmic-ray antiparticle.

The nuclear collision is an almost unique way to study in laboratories the property of hot and dense nuclear matter and the liquid vapor phase transition of nuclear matter. Transport equations and molecular dynamics have been utilized to describe the collision process, whereas the quantum fluctuation is essential for fragmentation and clusterization. Antisymmetrized molecular dynamics represents the nucleons by quantum wave packets with fermionic statistics, and introduces channel branching in order to treat the quantum fluctuation in the wave packet motion as well as the two nucleon collision effect. It has been working powerfully for the understanding of various reaction phenomena in the energy region of several ten to several hundred MeV per nucleon. We hope that this review also plays a role as an elucidation of basic elements of quantum many body dynamics in nuclear collisions.

We present a unified view of the mechanism of the high-T
c cuprate superconductors. The high-T
c cuprate superconductors are characterized as a pseudo two-dimensional metal in the vicinity of the Mott insulator. We showed that strong antiferromagnetic and superconducting fluctuations interact with each other and they induce anomalous metallic properties and characteristic features of the phase diagram.
