LHC has started with the center of mass energy, 7TeV. Main purposes of LHC are to discover the Higgs boson and new physics beyond the standard model. The latest results are summarized in this article. No evidence of new physics is discovered, and strict limit is set on the Super-Symmetric particles and the other new particles.

We report on the research and development of a large-aperture Hybrid Avalanche Photo-Detector (HAPD). We have developed a 13-inch aperture HAPD. The HAPD is a new photon detector of excellent performance (a time resolution of 〜200ps or better and a single photon sensitivity) and could eventually replace the photomultiplier tube (PMT) in the future. Applications inelude photon sensors in the next-generation imaging water Cherenkov detectors such as Hyper Kamiokande. We also describe the readout electronics and high-voltage power supply designed for the digital HAPD. The digital HAPD gives digital data with the connection of only power supply line and Ethernet cable.

We have derived the generalized second law of thermodynamics and nonequilibrium relations which can be applied to information processing by "Maxwell's demon." These results have recently been verified experimentally. Our results constitute fundamental principles of "information thermodynamics."

The properties of the kagome-lattice antiferromagnet has been clarified from the development of numerical-diagonalization studies by large-scale parallelization although our understanding of this system which is one of the two-dimensional frustrated systems is not so deep due to the limitation of effective methods of analysis. In this article, we report three novel phenomena in the magnetization process: a "magnetization ramp" that is different from a typical magnetization plateau, gapless spin excitation, and ferrimagnetism in the case of spatially anisotropic interactions.
