On the basis of experimental results previously reported on agglutina-tivity of coalsin manufacturing coke, the subsequent experiments on the conversion of weakly coking coal to caking coal were reported in this paper.
From the results, it is found that the substance obtained by Vacuum heating for proper times and at proper temperature, after adding the suitable amounts of pitch to weakly coking coals, possessed the three important properties of caking coals as the author had, considered in previous paper.
The same effects were also obtained by contact with heated inert gas instead of this vacuum heating method. It was confirmed by coking test using test oven that the subst- ance treated with heated inert gas is possible to be used as alternative of caking coal for coke production.
