It still holds from old times that man synthesize isobutanol by using catalyser under high temperature and high pressure.
Recently, with developement of natural gas, petrochemistry and iron industry, cracked gas and byproduct gas have been obtained on a large scale.
Now we report results of these studies as a method of this utilization.
Because this reaction has a possiblity which follows various subreaction thermodynamically, discovery of suitable catalysers is very important.
In these studies, we investigated the effect of various metal oxide viz.oxide of Mg, Al, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu, Ce, Th and Ur for Zn-alkali system in the sense of preliminary experiments.
As the results, on the point of formed liquid quantity and contained volume of isobutanol in liquid of formation, we confirmed that Cr is most excellent and Al, Th, Ur and Ce give fairly good results.
Mo promoted only reaction of water formation.
