We investigated the clinical features of 168 cases of drug-induced liver injury during the past 25 years. In cases after 1990, the positive rate in the lymphocyte stimulation test (LST) and the incidence of itching were decreased significantly in comparison with cases from 1976 to 1989. In 95.8% (46/48) of the hepatocellular type and 84.3% (59/70) of cholestatic and mixed types, GPT recovered to the normal range within 12 weeks. The proportion of cases showing delayed recovery in the cholestatic type was significantly higher than that in the hepatocellular type. In 76.8% (43/56) of cholestatic and mixed types, total bilirubin (T-bil) recovered to the normal range within 12 weeks. In 94.6% (140/148) of total cases, liver function tests recovered to the normal range within 20 weeks.
