Residual oil from Yabase (Japan) crude was dewaxed with urea using the methanol-benzene solvent mixture. Filterability of adduct and adductibility itself was found to be reduced conciderably when the benzene content of the solvent mix exceeded 90vol%. The temperature ranging from 30∼50°C does not affect the adductibility, while the filterability improves with an increase in temperatures. Treatment of the residual oil with MEK-Urea adduct improved both the adductibility and filterability under the room temperature. The distillation under vacuum (5mmHg) of urea-dewaxed oil (pour point-29°C) and solvent-dewaxed oil using MEK-toluene (pour point-27.5°C) indicated that the pour point of each distillate fraction does not differ much with the solvent-dewaxed oil, but increases as the fraction becomes heavier with the urea-dewaxed oil.
