The activity of alkaline phosphomonoesterase of Eremothecium ashbyii was investigated by the p-nitrophenol method. The Michaelis-Menten constant (Km) was 6.5×10^<-4> mol. The enzyme was activated by Mg‥, and inhibited by histidine, cysteine, ethylene diamine, ethylene diamine tetractic acid, CN', Cu‥, Zn‥, Co‥, Mn‥, Ca‥, Fe… and Hg‥. However, it was also activated slightly by small amount of Zn‥. The activating effect of Mg‥ was increased by adding alanine. Activators and inhibitors of this enzyme seemed similar to those of the enzymes obtained from other origins.
