ジャーナル フリーExtracts of the fresh blossoms of Yellow Sultan (yellow variety of Centaurea moschata L.) were subjected to column chromatographic analysis. Besides an unidentified nonepoxide type carotenoid pigment C_<40>H_<56>O_3,the main epiphasic carotenoids were identified as all-trans-β-carotene-diepoxide, all-trans-luteochrome, and all-trans-neurosporene. Small amounts of aurochrome, flavochrome, flavoxanthin ester, and lutein monoepoxide ester (?) were also detected in their all-trans and cis forms, although α-, β-, or γ-carotene was not found.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (383K) -

ジャーナル フリーEpoxycarotenoids were detected by the following microchemical methods. CHCl_3-HCl method : Addition of HCl to the chloroform solution of monoepoxy- or diepoxy-carotenoid produced immediately green or blue coloration, respectively. Simple thin layer chromatography : On an alumina plate, sample was developed with n-hexane・methylethylketone・4-methyl-2-pentane (94 : 5 : 1 for carotenes and their epoxides, 59 : 40 : 1 for xanthophylls and their epoxides). The types of carotenoids were differentiated by applying the "group reagent" (50% AgNO_3 and 0.2% Bi(NO_3)_3) on the developed spots of the samples. ジャーナル フリーAlthough fed with an inositol-deficient diet for more than 3 months, young rats seemed unlikely to have any symptoms of alopecia or spectacled eye in appearance. However, when myo-inositol was given together with the above diet, rats showed a marked increase of growth. Thus, it was observed without any exceptions, that the rate of increase of body weight of the inositol-fed animals was about 35 per cent higher than that of the animals fed with an inositol-deficient diet, in the 4 trials of examination. When rats were fed with the diet containing inositol hexaacetate instead of free inositol, similar promotion of growth was observed. ジャーナル フリーA chemical method for the selective estimation of myo-inositol coexisting with an excess sugar was described. To adopt the periodate oxidation method, an excess sugar (10-1000 : 1 W/W), should be removed by filtration through a Dowex 1×1 (OH^- ) bed, after the complete oxidation of the sugars to the acidic compounds by heating with 0.08 equivalent of barium hydroxide for 10 minutes at 100℃. Then, the amount of myo-inositol in the filtrate was estimated by the periodate oxidation technique. From the above experiments, it was found that 5-50mg % of myo-inositol added to the 5 per cent sugar solution could be determined spectrophotometrically with high reproducibility, within an experimental error of ±3 per cent. As an alternative method, the acetylation of myo-inositol and the determination of resulting six ester bonds according to the usual hydroxamate method was proposed.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (701K) -

ジャーナル フリーO-Benzoylthiamine disulfide (BTDS) equivalent to 400 mg of thiamine hydrochloride or thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryldisulfide (TTFD), 200 mg and 400 mg, in the forms of two or four pills were orally administered just after a breakfast for consecutive 3 days to three healthy young men given a test diet. The feces of the former two days and the 24 hours urine after taking the pills were collected individually at the each test period of three days. Thiamine and riboflavin contents of these samples of urine and feces were determined. It was observed that average amount of thiamine excreted in the urine per person per day were 98.2 and 147.0 mg, respectively, when 400 mg of each BTDS or TTFD was given. Apparent absorption percentages of BTDS and TTFD were 61% and 57%, respectively. When large amount of BTDS or TTFD was administered, urinary excretion of riboflavin and its content in feces were lower than those of control period.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (583K) -

ジャーナル フリーThe quantitative determination of CoA by sorbyl-CoA formation by Wakil et al. was investigated and applied to determination of CoA in animal tissues. Fatty acid activating enzyme (FAAE) which forms the sorbyl-CoA from sorbate, CoA and ATP was prepared mainly according to Mahler et al. The preparation method was a little modified and simplified by starting mitochondrial materials prepared from beef liver according to Hogeboom. The enzyme activities obtained were reproducible, but the range of optimal CoA determination was to the extent of 9.38 mμ moles. The extraction of CoA from animal tissues was as follows : homogenize at 0℃, boil after adjusting pH to 4.0 and add NaCl (2.5%) and centrifuge in the cold. This method was considered to be suitable for determination of CoA in animal tissues, although the preparation of active FAAE was somewhat difficult.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (568K) -

The coronary sinus catheterization showed remarkable decrease in thiamine uptake-ratio of myocardium, and thiamine, especially the esterified form, of myocardium remarkably decreased compared with control. ジャーナル フリーThe electrocardiography and myocardial metabolism were studied on thiamine-deficient dogs. The most important electrocardiographic changes were ST depressions which were classified into coronary insufficiency and myocardial damage. The majority of cases indicated flat or inverted T and prolonged Q-Tc, and A-V block and ventricular premature beat were observed in few cases. By the method of coronary sinus catheterization the author observed that pyruvate and lactate increased remarkably in blood and the uptake-ratio of pyruvate and lactate decreased to a great extent. The coronary A-V difference of potassium was negative and that of sodium was positive. ジャーナル フリーThe overdosis of intermediate products of citric acid cycle caused the ST・T abnormalities and prolongation of Q-Tc in normal dogs. Sodium citrate gave the greatest influence upon the ECG and sodium succinate showed the weakest effect upon ST・T. The ST depressions caused by droplet injection of sodium pyruvate were improved by ATP, TDP and AMP. The direct epicardial lead ECG showed that the small amount of pyruvate improved the ST・T and the overdosis aggravated the ST・T abnormalities.
