Salmonella miyazaki, isolated from cases of food poisoning in Miyazaki City in 1955 and demonstrated to be a new type of Salmonellae in 1958, had not been detected anywhere for more than 10 years.
In 1966, however, a Salmonella strain coincident with Salmonella miyazaki was recovered from a patient with dysentery-like symptoms in Miyazaki City and there was no significant difference in their biological and serological behaviours and antibiotic sensitivities between the 1958 and the 1966 isolates.
