1. BCG Wax D₄ antigen does not react with leprosy or tuberculosis serum without the addition of cardiolipin and choresterol.
2. The antigenic components in this experiments were as follows; 0.05cc. of 0.1% BCG D₄, each 0.2cc. of 0.2% cardiolipin, 1% choresterol, and 0.55cc. of absolute alcohol to make a total of 1cc.
3. Among BCG Wax D₄, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Aoyama B strain) Wax D²₂₀, and tuberculin polysaccharide Lot₄ fraction, BCG Wax D₄ showed the highest titer of th maximum hemolysis at x128, while the other two showed the titer at x64.
4. Using this amount of antigen, reactions were observed with the serum of leprosy or tuberculosis, but not of pregnacy. Teh reaction was also positvie with the serum of syphilis in about 10%, which was considered as a nonspecific reaction because of the addition of cardiolipin In the antigen.
5. The chemcal structure and nature are are clarified in this antigen, and its antigenic activity is stable.
6. The problem of cross reaction between leprosy and tuberculosis with the use of this antigen is to be eliminated by changing the amount of choresterol and/or by using cephalin in the future.
7. Among 100 cases of leprosy, 84% of lepromatous, 62.5% of macular, and 72.4% of neural leprosy showed positive reaction with the use of this antigen.

The patient was a 24-year-old male, who had had no history of skin trouble and of any other allergic diseases until December 17, 1956, when he had pruritic eruptions involving the hands forearms. He was an employee in a dye-industry for the preceeding 2 years.
Physical examinations revealed irregular-shaped, erythematous macules with miliary-sized papulovesicules or vesicules in the dorsa of the fingers, hands and forearms symmetrically, where diffuse edematous swelling was noted. Some vesicles were isolated and others were confluent in the erythematous macules. Slightly erythematous macules were noted also in the forehead. These eruptions well improved by the application of Lassar's pasta and boric acid compress topically.
Patch tests were performed with crystaline or 10-80% solutions of T-p-SAM in aceton in flexor aspect of the forearm of 68 individuals including the patient, 48 normal adults and 19 others with skin troubles. The patient began to complain of prutitus in the tested area 5 and a hours after the test was started. Vesicules with erythematous macules developed in 24 hours a tendency to spread to the upperarms, left shoulder and the right side of abdominal wall. other 67 cases, there was no immediate reaction with 10-80% solution of T-p-SAM but a delayed reaction (spontaneous flare-up) was observed in 3 individuals at the 9th day. If tested with crystaline T-p-SAM, all individuals showed not only immediate reactions but also delayed reactions in the areas tested with 10-80% solution of T-p-SAM before.
Patch test with a related chemical, T-p-SAE, was done without any reaction in all cases.

3 cases of acropigmentio reticularis occuring in a family tree were encountered among the natives in Amami-Oshima Island. In this family, 5 males and 7 females constituting one-third of all members of the family had this pigmentation (Fig. 1). Further detailed study should reveal more cases in the island.
These 3 cases were all female between 17 and 20 years of age, who developed slowly but progressively spreading, punctate brown freckles at the age of about 11 years. The pigmentation started on the dorsa of both hands, and spread to forearms, dorsa of feet, lower legs, nape of neck, and face. On the face, the freckles were aggregated in the lower eyelids and angles of jaw. There were sharp but shallow depression corresponding to pigmention.
Histologically, hyperkeratosis, epidermal thinning, and narrowing of the rete ridges, at the bottom of which were aggregates of melanin pigment in the basal layer. Routine laboratory examinations were within normal limits except for -15.9% Thorn's test in one case, which had hyperhydrosis of palms and soles.

For the purpose of quantitative evaluation of post-treatment serology of syphilis, more minute grading of the ordinary Wassermann reaction was necessary. In the present study, the minimal hemolytic dosis (MHD) of complement in Browning's Wassermann reaction was further multiplied from x2 and x4 to x6, x8, x10……and x30, each of which were labelled as 6, 8, 10……and 30 MHD. In this way, the (_??_) reactions were further divided into 13 different grades. MHDs in 182 cases with (_??_) Browning's Wassermann reaction were determined accordingly (Table 1).
MHD curve obtained by repeated MHD determinations following antiluetic therapy in 50 cases with (_??_) reaction varied depending on the stage and type of the disease, therapeutic agents, or the individual examined. However, following 4 types of curve were considered as representing each variation: Type I. A steady fall to a negative level after about 10 weeks (Fig. 1). Type II. A sudden initial fall followed by a rather sluggish curve lasting 30-40 weeks, some reaching the negative level but others remaining on the positive level (Fig. 2). Type III. A sudden initial rise preceeding a sharp fall to a low level, some reaching the negative level but others remaining on the positive level (Fig. 3). Type IV. A quite refractory curve against the therapy (Fig. 4).
MHD curves in the experimental animal using albino rabbits inoculated with Spirochaeta pallida indicated the antiluetic therapy in them produced a rapid fall of the curve followed by a slow, near-horizontal curve simulating type II curve in men (Fig. 5).
Results of antiluetic therapy using a combination of mapharsen and bismuth, and penicillin were f. und quite similar to those with salvarsan and bismuth.

Periactin, that is, 1-methyl-4- (5-dibenzo- [a, e] -cyclohepata-trienylidene) -piperidine, was administered in pruritic skin diseases including 17 cases of acute urticaria, 7 chronic urticaria, dermatitis, 2 strophulus and each one of pemphigus erythematosus and Quincke's edema, The clinical results were observed as following:
1) Subjective symptoms such as pruritus decreased or disappeared in all cases on periactin mouth.
2) A daily dose of 12-16mg periactin was sufficient to improve subjective symptoms, showed no apparent side effects.
3) Periactin was not a causal treatment for the skin diseases, but a symptomatic one.
4) Periactin was more effective in the cases of urticaria because of both it's antihistaminic and antiserotonic actions than any other antihistaminics.

A Glycylon tablet consists each 25mg of glycyl lysine, glycine, methionine, and precipitated calcium carbonate. Daily 9 tablets were administered orally to 18 cases of alopecia areata. A satisfactory therapeutic effect was obtained from this treatment after one month's observation period. This effect of Glycylon on the hair growth is considered due to the inhibition of inactivation of the cortico-steroids, which then acts favorably on the regrowth of the hair.
