We compared the Urabe-method-program which we coded for personal computers, with the “Auto-adjusting iteration interval Runge-Kutta method” which has been proposed by Shinohara et al. lately. Both methods were designed to monitor the rates for all species to select the best-suited iteration interval for the numerical in-tegration.
Although Shinohara's original method is inferior to the Urabe-method, it is demonstrated that this method can be made a very powerful method by changing a parameter.
A Belousov-Zhabotinskii oscillation system with alanine-acetone as mixed substrate was studied. Experimental conditions (concentration range and temperature range) within the oscillatory behavior which can be observed are reported. The energies of activation were estimated from the Arrhenius plots. The results have been explained in the light of FKN mechanism.
