The purpose of this report are the comparison of the results between the changes of segment C in RI renogram and of the changes of IVP in various kinds of ureteral obstruction. The results were summarized as follows : 1) The average size of the normal dog kidney and kidney pelvis on x-ray films were; left kidney, 19.2cm2, right kidney, 18.9cm2, left kidney pelvis, 0.9cm2 and right kidney pelvis, 0.3cm2. After the leftside nephrectomy was performed, right kidney became 19.5cm2 and kidney pelvis, 1.98cm2. 2) The changes occurred in obstructed kidney were compared with the types I, II, III, IV, and V of the Fukuchi's classication, types A, B, and C of the Fujino's classificatication and the kidney size of IVP. 3) The height and the time of segments A and B were measured and the height of the curves at 15, 20 and 25 minutes in RI renograms were also measured throughout the experiments. 4) In RI renograms of urinary obstruction, the height of segments A and B increased, that of segment B prolonged and that of segment C disappeared. Finally, segment B disappeared and RI renogram showed nonfunctional type. However, the examination should be done repeatedly to get the final conclusion. 5) The impairment of the renal function differed according to the part of the urinary obstruction. The obstruction in the upper part of the ureter induced impaired renal function constantly, irrespective to the degree of the obstruction. On the other hand, in cases of the lower part obstruction, it appeared more slowly than the former and was parallel to the degree of the obstruction. These results were equally obtained from the RI renogram, IVP and the kidney size estimation. 6) In the teses of hydration, porformed with i. v. injection of 5% glucose solution, the renal function was improved in most cases. 7) The types of RI renogram due to obstruction (segment B elevated continuously for more than 25 minutes) belonged to types III (A, B, C and D) and IV (A, B and D) according to the classification of IVP and were within the limits of 113.2-177.6% as compared with the normal size. Nonfunctional types belonged to the worse one than type V or C. 8) In types II to IV of the Fukuchi's classification, the prolongation and the increasing of the height at 15, 20 and 25 minutes of segment B in renogram were observed and in type V, the height decreased.

Human milk lysozyme was purified successively by the ion exchange chromatography on carboxymethylcellulose and the gel filtration through Sephadex G-50. The enzyme was shown to be homogeneous with respect to ultracentrifugal, electrophoretic, and spectrophotometric patterns. In agreement with the previous finding, it was found that human milk lysozyme was similar to egg white lysozyme in the optical pH and molecular weight, although these enzymes differed in amino acid composition each other. In this paper, we attempted to establish a rapid and simple preparation method for human milk lysozyme, and found that the electrophoretic mobility of both human milk and egg white lysozymes were also different each other.

The serum insulin level prior to and during oral glucose tolerance test and insulin antibody titer were determined in 250 diabetic subjects. The results were as follows; 1) After 100g glucose loading, 0-30min. _??_IRI/_??_BS value and 0-180min. _??_IRI/_??_BS value were calculated. 0-180min. _??_IRI/_??_BS value showed the more apparent correlation with glucose response capacity. 2) Serum IRI levels and _??_IRI/_??_BS values after glucose loading were low, especially in secondary diabetes, less than 150mg/dl FBS. 3) The obese group showed the same tendency as in secondary diabetes ;both vasal insulin levels and serum IRI levels after glucose loading were high. 4) Comparing among the same glucose response level cases, old-onset diabetes showed the higher serum IRI levels than in adult-onset diabetes. On the other hand, old-onset diabetes presented the lower basal insulin levels than in secondary diabetes. 5) In insulin antibody positive group, diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy were significantly found freqvently.
