  • Development of Absorbing Shock Theory for Vibration Damping Method

    For the purpose of the shock absorption, using an oil damper and rubber, the author studied the vibration absorbing system with hydraulic damper, and tried the applied calculation between the absorbing constant and shaking amplitude in the case of installed agricultural engine.
    The lagging time necessary for relaxation is only short, but the effect of decrease of the vibration energy is very remarkable. In the case of using rubber together with the damper, it was found from the calculation that the more the weight on damping system increases the less the engine vibration becomes.

  • On Basic Character of the Thermister for the Anemometer

    We studied on basic character of the thermister for the anemometer, because of necessity to measure the wind distribution of the jet flow from the blower.
    On the test result, the voltage at the both ends of OBS-10 bead type thermister was in proportion to the square root of wind velocity. And this thermister indicated most sensibility for moving wind when electric current was used in 3-4mA. and as wind velocity became smaller, the less current used, the higher sensibility appeared.
    Then we made the anemometer with direct bridge circuit that suit to this character. This anemometer could measure more sensibly under 3m/s wind velocity, and could measure the wind velocity distribution of jet flow from a duster's blower.
    With the same thermister we made another anemometer having temperature compensation circuit, zero point adjusting circuit and more linear relation between wind velocity and its indication too. Our purpose could be almost perfected, but bead type thermister could not be used over 30m/s wind velocity, because of its weak supporter.

    In this paper, the stress distribution in the soil under the farm wheel are reported. These results are known from a series of tests reported before. In the figures in this paper, the example of the principal stress lines, the lines of equal pressure and sliding shear planes of each test are shown.
    The one of the useful fact when we require the stress distribution is that the deformation and stress in the soil by the farm wheel are decided by the slip percentage of that wheel.

  • On the Shearing Characteristics of Fertilizers

    The shearing characteristics of eight kinds of fertilizers were investigated to analyse their fluidity.
    The fluidity of fertilizers is affected by how they expand and change their void-ratios and internal friction, when sheared. Cohesion in wet fertilizers obstructs their expansion and reduces their fluidity.
    The larger in size and the uniformer in its distribution the particles of fertilizers are, the more their expansion and decrease of internal friction by shearing are. So that, the granularization of fertilizer is fundamentally effective to improve their fluidity.

    As a result of a test of vertical pump for farm use (propeller pump), total efficiency showed very small values of ηp=(20-30)%.
    But, hydraulic efficiency of impeller which was calculated theoretically showed ηh=(60-75)%.
    This shows that there exist large losses in addition to hydraulic loss. Owing to the construction of the pump, mechanical losses are considered to be relatively large.

    The faults of the present threshing cylinder are to make so much pieces of ears and straw, and to require more holding force of the bundle. Author investigated the cause of above action and deviced a new type threshing cylinder as Fig. 4, in order to raise the threshing efficiency.

  • Measurements of Destruction-Strength of Husks

    In order to examine strength, I devised and manufactured on trial a portable testing husk destruction machine. The result obtained from the experiment and investigation denotes that “Pull and separation resisting power between outer glume and glume axi” is the largest, followed by “Pull resisting power on one side of outer glume”.
    “Open and Shut separation resisting power” is the smallest, “Returns bend resisting power“ on one side of outer glume” Shows 4-5 times.
