JOURNAL FREE ACCESSWhen Boc-Asp (OBzl)-Ser (Bzl)-OBzl was deblocked with methanesulfonic acid-anisole to obtain free dipeptide, a few degree of α to β shift was observed. Boc-Asp-(OBzl)-Thr (Bzl)-OBzl had similar property. When β-carboxyl group was protected with p-nitrobenzyl group stable to methanesulfonic acid-anisole, no detectable α to β shift was observed. Boc-Asp (ONb)-Ser (Bzl)-Asp (OBzl)-Pro-Arg (MBS)-ONb was treated with methanesulfonic acid-anisole, followed by catalytic hydrogenation or treatment with zinc powder in acetic acid for the cleavage of p-nitrobenzyl group to give Asp-Ser-Asp-Pro-Arg.View full abstractDownload PDF (736K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSTwo yellow pigments were isolated from the rhizomes of Cimicifuga dahurica MAXIM. (Ranunculaceae) and were elucidated as 3-(3'-methyl-2'-butenyliden)-2-indolinone. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe mechanism of the hot acid hydrolysis of 5α-pregnane-3α, 20α-diol disulfate was studied with the substrate containing deuterium in the 17α position. About 75% of the isotopic atom was retained in the formation of 17α-ethyl-17β-methyl-5α-androst-13 (14)-en-3α-ol. The stereospecific migration of deuterium to ethyl side chain of the product is suggesting that the rearrangement proceeded mainly via concerted mechanism.View full abstractDownload PDF (410K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSAs one of studies on naturally occurring active principles, antitussive principles in Asiasari radix, namely four active principles [I], [II], [III] and [IV] were isolated by a suitable combination of counter current distribution and column chromatography. [I] oily product, C11H14O2, [II] mp 110°, C9H10O4, [III] mp 70°, C16H25NO, and [IV] mp 258°(dec.), C16H17NO3-HCl were found to be identical with methyleugenol, kakuol, N-isobutyldodecatetraeneamide and higenamine hydrochloride (dl-demethylcoculaurine), respectively.
