JOURNAL FREE ACCESSEs wurden 2-Benzyliminomethyl-, 2-p-Methylbenzyliminomethyl-, 2-(1-Naphthyliminomethyl)-, 2-(2-Naphthyliminomethyl)-, 2-(p-Methoxybenzyliminomethyl) amin, 2-(p-Athoxybenzyliminomethyl)-, 2-(p-Chlorbenzyliminomethyl)-und 2-(p-Brombenzyliminomethyl) pyrrol (abgekurzt Imine B) dargestellt. Ihre Reaktionen mit verschiedenen Metallen wurden mit den Reaktionen der in der ersten Mitteilung berichteten 2-Pyrrolylmethylenimine (abgekurzt Imine A) verglichen. Die Kupferchelate sind dunkelblaue bzw. schwarze Kristalle, die in Chloroform und Athylacetat leicht loslich und in Athanol schwer loslich sind. Sie haben praktisch identische Absorptionsmaxima bei ca. 350 mμ in Athylacetat. Ein Kupferchelat enthalt Kupfer und Ligand im Verhaltnis von 1 zu 2. Imine B haben die C=N-Bande bei 1640 cm-1, die sich bei Chelatkomplexbildung um ca. 50 cm-1 nach kleineren Frequenzen verschob. Es wurden auch N, N'-Bis (2-pyrrolyliden) athylendiamin und sein Kupferchelat hergestellt, und auch hier haben die Autoren eine Verschiebung von 50 cm-1 wahrgenommen. Diese Ergebnisse zeigen, da■ die Imino-Gruppe sich an der Chelatkomplexbildung beteiligt.View full abstractDownload PDF (605K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESS3β, 5-Dihydroxy-6β-formyl-B-nor-5β-steroids (IIIa, b, c) of cholestane, pregnane, and androstane series were converted into the corresponding 3β, 5-dihydroxy-6β-methyl-B-nor-5β-steroids (VIa, d, e) by reduction of (III) with sodium borohydride, followed by tosylation of 6-hydroxymethyl group and subsequent treatment with lithium aluminium hydride. The compounds (VI) were oxidized to 3-oxo-5-hydroxy-6β-methyl-B-nor-5β-steroid derivatives (VIIa, b, f) which were then dehydrated to 6ξ-methyl-B-norcholest-4-en-3-one (VIIIa), 6ξ-methyl-B-norpregn-4-ene-3, 20-dione (VIIIb), and 6ξ-methyl-B-norandrost-4-ene-3, 17-dione (VIIIf).View full abstractDownload PDF (948K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESS17α, 21-Dihydroxypregn-4-ene-3, 11, 20-trione 21-acetate and 5α-cholest-7-en-3β-ol acetate were treated with ozone to afford the corresponding 5β, 6β-and 7α, 8α-epoxide, respectively. 17α, 21-Dihydroxy-5α-pregn-9 (11)-ene-3, 20-dione 21-acetate gave 17α, 21-dihydroxy-9, 11-seco-5α-pregnane-3, 9, 20-trion-11-al 21-acetate on ozone oxidation, which was converted into 17α, 21-dihydroxy-9, 11-seco-5α-pregnane-3, 9, 20-trione-11-carboxylic acid 11, 17-lactone 21-acetate by oxidation with chromium trioxide.View full abstractDownload PDF (606K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSInfrared absorptions of benzoyl halides and their ortho-, meta-, and para-substituted derivatives were examined and following conclusions were drawn. 1) Absorptions of these compounds in the C=O region are mostly split into two. This is due to the Fermi resonance of the C=O stretching vibration and overtone of C-X (X=halogen atom) stretching vibration. 2) There are two strong absorptions in the region of 1240∼1140 cm-1. The absorption in the highere frequency is that of [chemical formula] stretching vibration and that in the lower frequency is the absorption of ring CH in-plane bending vibration. 3) In majority of compounds with the exception of meta-substituted derivatives, the -C-X (X=halogen atom) stretching vibration is the strongest absorption and is the most characteristic. 4) The summation bands are similar to those of benzoic acid esters.View full abstractDownload PDF (1058K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSA new volumetric method of determination of anionic surface-active agent with cationic surface-active agent using Neutral red as an indicator at pH 8∼9 was studied. This method can be applied for the anionic surface-active agents or sulfate or sulfonate type, and not be applied for soaps. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe structure of the ethyl ester, C18H22O8, m.p. 116°, which was obtained from O, O-diacetylusnic acid by the ozonolysis followed by alcoholysis was established by infrared spectral analyses as being ethyl 2-(2-hydroxy-3-acetyl-5-methyl-4, 6-diacetoxy-phenyl)-propionate (VI). An alternative possible structure of usnic acid (IV) has therefore been excluded, and the structure of usnic acid (III) has been confirmed. The behaviors of lactone A, m.p. 132°, an ozonolytic product of O, O-diacetylusnic acid was reexamined. It was proved by infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra, that reacetylation of deacetyl-lactone A with acetic anhydride and pyridine was affected at the 3-position of 2-coumaranone ring to furnish lactone B, m.p. 132°. Acetylating with acetic anhydride and conc. H2SO4, lactone A was regenerated from deacetyllactone A. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe structure of (+) isodihydrousnic acid (IDHU), C18H18O7, m.p. 128°, [α]D+57.5°, which was obtained from (-) dihydrousnic acid (DHU), C18H18O7, m.p. 149°, [α]D-86.8°, by heating above 200°was studied. IDHU was separated from DHU by recrystallization from MeOH or by paper electrophoresis. DHU and IDHU were distinguished by their Cu-complex salts which gave markedly different optical rotation. DHU and IDHU are interconvertible to form an equilibrium mixture in pyridine or in aq. alkaline solution, which showed an equilibrium value of optical rotation. The former suggestion that DHU and IDHU would be cis-trans isomers at B/C ring fusion has now been revised. The N.M.R. spectra showed a cis-ring fusion in both DHU and IDHU. The chemical and N.M.R. spectral studies of DHU, IDHU and their model compounds resulted that a rearrangement of A-ring occurs by the cleavage of B-ring in the course of interconversion of DHU and IDHU. The N.M.R. spectra of IDHU showed that it exists in an equilibrium state of different situation of hydrogen bonding, which is represented as in the formulas (A) and (B).View full abstractDownload PDF (898K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe infrared spectra of benzaldehyde N-methyl and N-phenyl nitrones and the corresponding imines, as well as those of the related monosubstituted benzenes, were determined and the assignment was made for most of the vibrations in the 1700∼650 cm-1 region and the characteristic frequencies for aldonitrones were discussed. The N-O stretching frequencies were assigned to the strong absorption at 1172 cm-1 in the N-methyl and the strong doublet at 1088 and 1071 cm-1 (1082 and 1067 cm-1 as solid) in the N-phenyl nitrones, respectively. From these positions, it was concluded that these aldonitrones constitute a transitory group located between heteroaromatic and aliphatic amine N-oxides with respect to the nature of the N-oxide function, the N-methyl nitrone being closer to the former and the N-phenyl nitrone to the latter. The C=N stretching frequencies showed a large shift to a lower frequency in the nitrones as compared with those in the corresponding imines. Study of the solvent effect showed that the N-O and the C=N frequencies shifted markedly to a lower and a higher frequency, respectively, in a solvent capable of hydrogen bond formation. These results were discussed in terms of resonance contribution in the electronic state of the nitrones. Photochemical reaction of these nitrones was investigated spectrophotometrically and their conversion products on irradiation of ultraviolet light were identified and discussed.View full abstractDownload PDF (1196K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESS1) Attempt was made to suppress the hydrolysis of acetylsalicylic acid with anionic (sodium laurylsulfate), cationic (cetylethyldimethylammonium bromide and benzalkonium chloride), and nonionic (Emulgen 120) surfactants. The hydrolysis of the undissociated form of acetylsalicylic acid is suppressed by the three kinds of surfactants and that of the anionic form is suppressed by cetylethyldimethylammonium bromide and benzalkonium chloride. 2) Through the ultraviolet spectra and the partition coefficient, it was ascertained that the undissociated form of acetylsalicylic acid is solubilized with the above three kinds of surfactants and the anionic form interacts with only a cationic surfactant.View full abstractDownload PDF (918K) -

The acidic fraction obtained by hydrolysis of (I), was found to be a mixture of acetic acid and angelic acid.
