    Student-centered delivery classes according to Education for Sustainable Development were created. In this delivery class, students become lecturers and help do experiment regarding with science and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By collaborating with elementary and junior high schools, the needs about classes were collected. Fifteen new classes related with SDGs were developed based on the needs in 2017 and 2018. The opportunities to introduce this delivery class to those schools were increased via a coordinator. With increasing the number of classes conducted, the involved students increased up to 97 in a year in 2018. The students could gain not only presentation and communication skills, but also accident management skill. From self-evaluation, it was shown that this kind of delivery class was a suitable method to obtain social basic skills.

    In this research we analyzed the change of students’ consciousness after participating in annual interactive meeting on enterprise technology with business persons of domestic companies held at Niigata Institute of Technology. After the meeting we asked students to think about the technology, knowledge and human resourcefulness that should be learned in college days and had them write it down in a questionnaire on Moodle. We analyzed their sentences by text mining and clarified that higher grade students tend to have more intrinsic motivation by embodying the image after work, and to notice importance of more utilization of learning mechanisms in college.

    In our rapidly changing society, universities are expected to foster engineering expertise and collaborative abilities in their students. To meet these requirements, our department has developed project-based learning (PBL), which is provided in combination with information literacy education at Kindai University Central Library. A 3-year survey showed that the students’ information literacy improved after exposure to the information literacy education and the PBL. Another 1-year survey indicated that students could well express their own opinions and summarize future challenges. PBL combined with information literacy education is an effective approach to improve students’ collaborative abilities.

    We have developed the electronic musical instruments “Prototype Photomin”, “Breadboard type Photomin”, and “Microcomputer-type Photomin Mbed version” for educational materials. Using these, we conducted workshops for scientific enlightenment activities. For each workshop, the type and version of the Photomin was selected according to the aims and characteristics of the participants, and the workshop was designed to include the fabrication work at an appropriate level of difficulty. As a result, we were able to effectively convey the joy of manufacturing to children, university students, and the general public and deepen their interest. Those cases show that “Photomin” should be effective as an educational tool for science education for a wide range of people.

    We conducted a reading skill test and surveyed on learning conception for students in National Institute of Technology, Kure College. In this paper, we compare the actual conditions of basic reading comprehension and learning conception of the students, and investigate the necessary knowledge about acquisition of mathematical ability. As a result, we find that, in order to acquire academic ability, it is important to be able to imagine theorems and formulas of mathematics as concrete things and to make appropriate corrections when tackling problems in mathematics.

    This paper proposes an instruction method based on Project-Based Learning for the standard assignment subject in NOKAIDAI1) considering intrinsic motivation. In this subject, students learn embedded systems by designing and constructing their original embedded systems as group works. Our instruction method including the curriculum and teaching materials for this subject is developed based on the prior analysis from the results of questionnaires and examinations in Tokai NOKAIDAI. This paper also gives the effectiveness of our developed instruction method by the class practice in Tokai NOKAIDAI.

    Education in mechanism theory is essential for helping university students deeply understand machine. However, for students to imagine a mechanical movement through plane and stationary information is difficult. In addition, simulating and checking how mechanical movement changes along with changing the length of links and the number of pairs is also difficult. In this paper, MATLAB®/Simulink®/SimscapeTM MultibodyTM is applied for mechanism education and some mechanism practice. The introduced program’ s effect is verified with questionnaires and students’ GPAs. According to analysis of the questionnaires, the proposal method shows the possibility of improving students’ understanding and motivation. The practice introduced here is effective for students with rather high GPAs, seeming to improve their motivation for study. However, considering the specification like a university specializing in manufacturing, joining this educational program to 3D CAD education may also be useful for students with relatively low GPAs.

    The purpose of this study is to report the contents of philosophy education for science and engineering students at Toyo University, and to propose various ideas for improving education in these subject areas. Regarding class of “Philosophy of Science”, this paper examines questionnaire results revealing the engineering students’ perception of the difficulty level of the material, and their image of Western philosophy, Eastern philosophy, and Japanese philosophy. Survey results revealed that East/West comparisons increased students’ level of understanding. At first, they were skeptical about Eastern philosophy, but after completing the curriculum they reported that it is deeply connected to science, and helps to solve social challenges. Japanese philosophy and Monozukuri spirit classes aim to challenge students’ prejudices toward philosophy and science by discussing how science has developed from the tradition of natural philosophy.

    Mathematics is recognized as a language for us to understand nature. For example, we could confirm physical theory for the phenomenon by considering a scientific background of a phenomenon with mathematics. In National Institute of Technology, we have some departments and study various academical fields. Hence, students could gain knowledge of not only general education but also each specialties, for example, Mechanics, Electricity and so on. However, faculty members of General Education have not led graduate study in recent years in National Institute of Technology, hence we intend to obtain result which base on cooperative research a lecturer of General Education and a students of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

    Authors proposed the teaching material system of education-oriented μITRON4.0 specification operating system on 8-bit PIC microcontrollers, and reported its class practice in the Polytechnic University of Japan1). This paper proposes a set of automatic scoring type materials for the same real-time OS class as additional teaching materials. This paper also shows the effectiveness of the proposed materials in terms of educational effect and intrinsic motivation for students by its class practice.
