Display devices are the most popular means of visualizing image data. Pixel values of image data need to have a linear relationship with intensity on a display device. This paper desoribes a method for compensating nonlinear intensity distortion of display devices. This method is based on visual evaluation of intensity utilizing halftoning techniques. Therefore it requires no special instruments for measuring intensity.

We presented in our former paper the recursive refinement method of ridge-lines for CG simulation of terrain. In this paper, we present a new version of the algorithm which has the following improvements : (1) it considers well erosion processes, (2) it has appropriate reasons for determining several parameters which are used at each recursive level, (3) it introduces natural randomness into the generated ride-lines.

We have constructed a high speed image processing system which has a friendly graphical user interface (GUI). The system consists of three parts. 1) a universal video signal processing simulator^<(1)> which has abundant I/O devices and 800MB frame memory, 2) a mini super-computer for high speed numerical operation, and 3) personal computers which serve users wlth convenient operation environment. These three parts are connected by a LAN. The mini super-computer and the universal video signal processing simulator is connected by a high speed LAN to keep the processing performance high. Main feature of the system is realization of the convenient user operation environment. A user can control all of the parts of the system with GUI. Necessary operations such as parameter setting, process ordering can be also controlled through the GUI. The system successfully simplified the laborious simulation planning process and also reduced the processing time thanks for the mini super-computer.

The purpose of Architecture Modeling System is to the pursuit of a high quality design by speeding up each simulation process of architecture designing, using modelised information. For it's build-up, it is important to notice the methods of analysis, definitions and arrangements of each architectural stage while keeping in mind the specialities of the building design process. This paper reports on the Architectural CAEsystem, 'COMPASS' which we are now developing, and the idea of it's modeling system and the multi-usage of it's modeling data.

We have developed the following items to display the realistic pictures on wide display system for flight simulator. 1) 3 diamensional texture to realize the shape of the mountain and the wall of the building etc. 2) Remlistic for simulation to obscure the picture using obscuration rate calculated on each pixel. 3) Wide-type projection display system using wide concave mirror combined with metal segment mirrors.

The object of this paper is to provide brief review on driving simulator. At first basic composition is described for such subsystems as visual, motion, and others. Secondly typical driving simulators installed at the present time are introduced in association with their usages. Finally visual performances significant in driving a vehicle are summarized.
