In this paper, the measurement method of reflection from objects by short pulse method in the room is discussed. For 30×30 cm plate, the measurable range of about -40~-50dB in X~ku band is obtained. Reflection pattern of rectangular flat plates as a function of aspect angle and RCS of flat plate are measured by this measurement method.

A multicarrier modulation technique has been studied to provide an indoor wide-band digital radio transmission. However, a variable bit rate transmission capability is necessary in multi-media communications. In this paper, we propose a new channel assignment method appropriate to multicarrier modulation systems. Then we show that the proposed method can provide an variable bit rate transmission with high band width efficiency.

On midium-wave radio brordcasting service, the field strength in an area among the mountains which is a long distance from the transmitting station is generally small. Even in the suburbs, the field strength in a loom of a reinforced concrete building also may be small. To make up for such a shortage of field strength on the reception side,we developed a simple antenna with high gain.

New type of supervising equipment for the transmitting station was developed in NHK Tokyo radio station. This equipment can be supervised for operation of the AM broadcasting transmitter and these subsidiary systems, on condition. There are many display items in this equipment, for example, transmitter output power, load impedance condition, and efficiency of the high power amplifier. And the equipment has a two interface ports, one is GP-IB digital interface port and other one is analog signal outputs port which used for the data logging or additional local area monitoring networks.

In order to transistorize 300〜500kW radio transmitters ,we develped a new type of SIT with two times breakdown voltage, and power capacity compared to conventional SITS used in 20〜100kW radio transmitters. We obtained 86% or more drain efficiency at a frequency of 550kHz by use of Drain Efficiency-Maximizing theory in designing of the new SIT.

A compact, lightweight and low-cost FPU transmitter was developed for emergency news gatherings. It consists of a 7-GHz-band FET direct modulator and a flat panel antenna. The modulator uses a FET, a dielectric resonator (DR) and two varactors. The output power of 22dBm, and the DG and the DP of less then 3% and 2° are obtained, respectively. The flat panel antenna is constructed by four rectangular patches on a teflonglass substrate and a gain of 13 dBi is obtained.
