Eurodisplay'93 was held from Aug.31 to Sept.3 in Strasbourg. France. The number of attendants and presentations were considerably increased as compared with the last Eurodisplay'90. Japan continuously and highly contributed to the presentations. Ihe conference was held at the auditorium of the European Parliament, and well conducted using the new communication facilities. Besides the presentations and exhibitions, seminars were offered for the first time at the IDRC conference.

The summaries of the papers on emissive displays (plasma displays, electroluminescent displays, vacuum fluorescent displays and field emission displays) presented at '93 EURODISPLAY Symposium are reported. The presentations are as follows: (1) 19 papers on EL including a high resolution panel, a blue phosphor and a multi layer white phosphor, (2) 5 papers on plasma display including an electronic circuity, a new structure panel and along life DC panel, (3) 2 papers on phosphor on VFD and FED.

In the liquid crystal technology session of Eurodisplay'93, 9 oral and 1 1 poster presentations are done. Concerning the contents, there were 4 presentations related to the alignment of liquid crystal layer, 3 presentations related to the display modes, 3 presentations related to the electric properties of nematic liquid crystals. And the rest presentations each discussed the effect of cholesteric pitch on TN-LCD, a cholesteric LCD, a phase change LCD, an insulating layer for LCD, a GH-LCD, an addressing scheme of matrix LCD, an applications of cholesteric liquid crystal, a surface of PN-LCD material, a nematics with fine particles and a backlight, respectively. The summaries of them are described.

Presentations about ferroelectric liquid crystal display and polymer dispersed liquid crystal in the 13th International Display Research Conference (EURODISPLAY'93) are reviewed. Number of papers on these topics was 10 (FLC-3〜4, FLC-P1〜P6), 7 (PDLC-1〜3, PDLC-P2〜P5), respectively. In ferroelectric liquid crystal display, several papers presented application of SLM. In polymer dispersed liquid crystal display, the possibility of active matrix addressing was discussed actively.

Reports on EuroDisplay'93, which held at Aug.31 - Sep. 3. 1991 in Strasbourg, France are described. An invited talk. 7 aural session papers, and 5 poster session papers related to LCD Projectors in this conference are introduced. In the invited talk. Dr. Stroomer had introduced 'Etendue' doe estimating projectors scale of merits, and compared the performances between CRT projectors. In the aural session. European people have been encouraged and have presented many papers mainly concerning to optical systems. In the poster session the papers were mainly related to LCD panels for projectors. In a late news paper, an LCD panel having 70 % aperture were introduced excitingly.
