A new transistor amplifier for the V.H.F. & U.H.F. band is proposed. This transistor amplifier consists of a transistor, a transformer, five resistors and four capacitors. Detaied analysis of the amplifer is presented. The amplifier has the characteristic of which the amplifier gain is nealy 20dB, the input impedance is 30Ω〜300Ω variable and the output impedance is 50Ω.

To introduce digital video services into the demand-access optical CATV system, we evaluated three kinds of BS-IF band 16-QAM signal receivers for use in subscriber's digital tuners. The receivers tested are the straight receiving system, the heterodyne receiving system and the heterodyne receiving system with automatic frequency control. Experimental results showed that the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of the receiving 16-QAM signal was below 10^<-4> for all three receivers when the carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) of the signal was over 20.0 dB. The frequency offset, about ±2MHz of the input signal, was allowed to attain the same BER performance.

In this paper, indoor TV receiving antenna which is composed of V-type dipole and delta loop element is analyzed. The moment method has been used to calculate the input impedance, gain and radiation pattern of indoor TV antenna. Practical design guidelines to optimize the receiving condition are proposed.

The improvement of the imaging quality is one of the most important issues for the high resolution earth observation system. A time delay and integration method combining plural CCD output signals should provide the solution for acquiring high quality image without increasing the optical diameter. This paper describes the general characteristics of the time delay and integration method, and shows the results of imaging quality improvement under the attitude fluctuations of satellite by simulation analysis.

Among the QPSK+concatenated code of the RS and some punctured convolutional codes, and TCM8PSK, the most appropriate transmission scheme and the maximum transmittable information bit rate for satellite ISDB are indicated based on the simulation. Assuming a high power TWTA and an output multiplex filter with a contiguous characteristic, the simulation has carried out. As interferences, upper and lower adjacent channel are considered for the new digital channels. In the case of WARC-BS criteria, the maximum transmission rate is limited to 25 Mbaud so as not to interfere with the MUSE signals in the adjacent channel. This paper figures out the appropriate schemes with a variety of parameters. These results show that the TCM8PSK can be preferable for achieving a high spectrum efficiency in high power direct broadcasting satellite channels for the service availability of 99.7% in the worst month. In the case of a higher service availability of 99.9% or in the case of a low eirp satellite, QPSK+the concatenated code shows better performances.

A high-performance automatic video signal detecter has been developed as a key device for next-generation signal monitoring system. It detects abnormal signals that cannot be detected by the conventional detecter, which only detects failures of video signals by sensing decrease in the level of synchronous signals. The new system detects such new items as picture freeze, cut off (black level) of video signals, and clipping of the black level of video signals. Regarding synchronous signals, it detects deviations from the RS-170A rating such as irregular synchronous signals and slippage of SCH as well as the decrease in level detected by the conventional system. Detection is achieved with HD-PICOT, a DSP capable of processing video signals in real time.

We developed a new type camera which named "LINEARCAM". It is completely remoto-controled and video is transmitted by radio microwave. The camera runs on three parallel wires which set on the air at a maximam speed ot about 30 kirometers per hour. We have already used in same live TV programs and have got effective scenes. It will be able to use for variable programs, such as sking, athletic sports, swiming and so on. This paper discuss system outlines of LINEARCAM and its effectibities. Moreover, we discss possibilities of LINEARCAM.

The TBS Broadcast Center went into full operation on October 3,1994,in which total digitalization has been achieved in regard to both radio and television divisions. In Japan, we are the first broadcaster who has experienced such a large digitalization in a "key-station" scale. We employed the SMPTE 259M composite digital serial format for video signal transmission and adopted the AES 3-1992 format for audio signal transmission. This presentation provides a brief description of our transmission system, with the primary emphasis being on video signals.
