The Technical Subgroup of the FCC Advisory Committee on Advanced Television Service approved the system specification and the performance specification of the Grand Alliance ADTV System. The Grand Alliance is now building a prototype hardware for laboratories testing that will take place in autumn 1994. In SMPTE 1920×1080 HDTV Production standard, in addition to the step 2 colorimetry and HDTV serial interface standards. is under discussion. ATSC has already started to document the Grand Alliance system for FCC.
ISDB (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting) is a concept of a new broadcasting system which enables to transmit various kinds of services through different types of channels. A transport system of the ISDB should have maximally common parts and be standardized internationally, therefore it is important that the transport system is compatible with related international standards. In a previous report(1), we have mentioned a basic configuration of ISDB transport system. This time, we discuss the application of the MPEG-2 Systems standard to the basic ISDB configuration. As a result of this discussion, we propose an ISDB transport signal format which is compatible with the MPEG-2 international standard.
In this paper, the experimental results of interference of FM audio or NTSC TV signals with OFDM signals generated by an OFDM modulator is described. In the case where the vision carrier(fv) and its periodic spectral components spaced every f_h coincide with OFDM sub-carriers, required DU ratio is smaller by a few dB than in the other cases. It is also has been confirmed that Carrier holes of only 400 kHz around the vision carrier and the audio carrier can reduce the co-channel NTSC interference by about 20 dB.
ITE published "Standard Test Sequences for Subjective assessment of HDTV (Hi-Vision) Picture Quality" in October. 1994. Some measurements of each sequences is taken by BTA (Broadcasting Technology Association) to describe each sequence's main characteristics, since selecting appropriate sequences is necessary in a subjective assessment and an objective yardstick has been desired for selection.
