    Multiple-readout performance is very important in video-on-demand systems. This paper describes that multiple-readout number achieved by using a magnetic disk array is a few tens at most. To increase the number, a new multiple-readout technique compatible with sub-second response is proposed together with visual search techniques such as skip play and slow play. As a result of theoretical analysis, three-hundred simultaneous readouts are possible in exchange for video preamble loss of under three seconds by the new technique.

    A Video camera with digital video output and external serial control interface has been developed. Two programmable digital signai processors provide output image format flexibility although an ordinary CCD imager which is used in consumer-use camcorders is utilized in it. The pixel's aspect ratio of output image which has the sampling structure of YUV 4:2:2 is selected as square and it can be directly connected to the frame buffer of the PC's or workstations. The system's operating parameters such as zoom ratio and white balance condition are fully controllable through a serial interface compatible to RS-232C of PCs and workstations.

    Write-once Hi-Vision video disc recorder was developed, based on a dual channel recording and playback technology. It introduces two new technologies, an optical pickup employing newly developed monolithic two-channel laser diode and secondly CLV servo technique with wobbled groove. A 20MHz bandwidth luminance (Y) signal and 6MHZ bandwidth chrominance (C) signals are recorded without bandwidth compression. Recording/playback time is 6 minutes (CAV) and 20 minutes (CLV) with both sides ofthe 30cm alloy mode write-once disc, and S/N of 42dB is obtained.

    W-VHS VCR has been developed as a next generation consumer VCR in response to Hi-Vision and NTSC signals. This VCR has a high picture quality using new video signal processing technologies by new Metal-coated tapes, TCI signal processing and Temporal Emphasis. It has an excellent cost/performance ratio as a Hi-Vision VCR developed on the basis of the VHS system.

    We have developed a wide converting system for Hi-Vision TVs which can fit input signals into a 16:9 wide aspect screen. In this system, the compression and arbitrary enlargement of images are done thoroughly by digital signal processing circuits. In addition, this system has an NTSC-HD converter, an enlargement-adaptive enhancer, a caption shifter and so called "smooth wide" circuits together with various displaying functions. This paper describes the features of the system and the development of it's LSI.

    A color pixel is a block composed of plural three primary color panels and a false color is made by the additive mixture of color stimuli of color pixels. By means of this false color. We investigated from both sides of the experiment and the theory whether it is possible or imoossible to realize the color display. In practice. as hugeness of a number of panels can not be prepared. Color display experiments are performed on the CRT picture plane. The brightness characteristics of the full color and the full color of CRT and additive mixture of color stimuli are investigated. and the false color simulation of the image taken by CCD camera is tried by computer. From the results. the possibility of realization of the color panel display is stated.

    Two hundreds Tracks Per Milimeter track following on emboss-formatted disk is demonstrated using feedfoward control by DSP. A repetitive control method and a feedfoward control method are discussed for eccentricity compensation on preformatted magnetic disk. In conclusion, feedfoward control method was chosen and examined because of its quick trackability after surface changes.
