Zoom lens for consumer video camera has been designed. This lens realizes small size, wide angle, and large zoom ratio by moving the compensator with the iris, distributing power of lens to each lens group appropriatery, and having an aspherical lens.
We have newly developed a high definition FOP with a single fiber pitch of 3 μm and a tapered FOP which has the capability of magnifying or minifying the transmitted image. These FOPs provide many advantages including high resolution. high transmission efficiency, small envelope size, large useful area and low image noise. These improvements allow to expand the applications with the CCD and the linear image sensor. This report discusses these features as comparing with lens and standard 6 μm FOP.
Even though plastics are inferior to glasses in terms of material properties for optical parts, thier repeatable productivity with low cost is the great advantage. One of the main stream techniques for precise injection molding is to modify mold shape considering the after-molding deformation and anticipating the deformation by computer simulation is getting popular these days. Temperture and humidity affect badly to the refractive index and to the shapeof molded parts and, as a result, they cause deterioration of optical performance. Understanding the weakness of plastic optical parts and make the best of theirrepeatable productivity is very important.
