A flexible thin microwave absorber is proposed using a carbon fiber/silicone rubber composite (C S C) structure. The C S C structure consists of a carbon fiber and a flexible silicone rubber. The operational principle and experimental results are discussed. A microwave absorber was obtained experimentally with a 6.37mm thickness, yielding a bandwidth of 190MHz, a central frequency of 3000MHz and analyzed theoretically.

This paper describes development of antenna radiation characteristics measuring system realized at low costs. The system consists of a network analyzer, an antenna test table and a rotation positioner in a radio anechoic chamber. Each element is controlled by a personal computer with GP-IB. The system also can measure a half-sphere radiation pattern.

Most of conventional loop antennae permit operating only one or two frequencies so far. The newly developed antenna enables to tune to a number of frequencies as many resonance circuits generating them. The loop element is made with a thick coaxial cable in diameter. The internal conductor is connected to external one in serial, so that the antenna features high gain. By the use of rigid cable for the element, the antenna is made to weatherproof and simple structure.

The standard for serial HDTV interfaces was established by BTA in April 1995. This paper describes outlines of the serial HDTV interfaces specification, contents of technical considerations, and results of transmission test. The standard for the serial HDTV interface consists of the bit stream format for transmission and physical characteristics of both coaxial cable and optical fiber interfaces. Many issues on the serial interfaces were considered, and such issues as synchronization, DC offset and equalization are described in this paper. The test was carried out on many items, and it was confirmed that the serial interfaces could be sufficiently applied to practical use.

The Broadcasting Technology Association (BTA) has recently established two standards. One is BTA S-005 'Ancillary data packet and space formatting of bit-serial digital interface for 1125/60 HDTV system'. BTA S-005 describes common ancillary data format for 1125/60 HDTV system, and this standard will be applied to any application of ancillary data. The other is BTA S-006 'Audio data format of bit-serial digital interface for 1125/50 HDTV system'. BTA S-006 describes audio data format of bit-serial interface for 1125/60 HDTV system, and has such features an '24 bits in one packet', 'error correction code' and 'audio clock phase data'. This paper describes outlines of these two BTA standards and content of technical consideration in the BTA.
