    We have developed new motion adaptive scanning line interpolation system. This new system affords the scannig density of 735 scannig lines although the existing TV NTSC system has 525 scannig lines. NTSC reception: The number of scannig lines have been increased from 525 to 735. Hi-Vision reception: The number of scanning lines has been increased from 360 to 483. Picture quality of PIP screen has been improved. The number of scanning lines has been increased from 161 to 241 and the number of picture elements has been increased from 120 to 240.

    We have been developing D2B (Domestic Digital Bus) as the AV control bus. D2B can control AV equipments bidirectionally and is also the IEC standard. Matsushita put GAOO LAND on the market. GAOO LAND is the D2B AV system, which is the first D2B products in Japan. The features of GAOO LAND are followings. 1) Easy operation controled by 3 key words - "watch","listen" and "record" - of System IR commander. 2) OSD (On the Screen Display) can inform the status or the warning of the system. 3) Multi-master control.

    CD-I disc can contain images, sounds and data in any combination. With a pointing device, you can easily interact with the disc while you watch the screen, and listen to the music. Anyone can experience the pleasure or multimedia. CD-I discs and players are all manufactured according to a single international standard. This paper summarizes key technologies underlying the CD-I/FMV (Full Motion Video) system.

    We have developed a multi-media authoring system. It is a production system for multi-media software, and can compression/decompression audiovisual data in real time. Video and audio data can be editted and played back after. This paper describes feature of the developed multi-media authoring system, and its system software and the last, application software production process.

    A multi-media player has been developed, which can play back multi-media applicatons produced by the multi-media authoring system. A video decoding LSI has also been developed because of reducting the multi-media player size. This paper describes the multi-media player, the video decoding LSI, and the system software.
