Our research focuses on the exploration of organizational knowledge which are shared with different kinds of office workers' groups. To analyse we developed FISH, which stands for Flexible Information Sharing and Handling system, and experimented with FISH for two years. Several results have been obtained from this experiment. However, a viewpoint of multi-group seems to be lacking. In this paper, organizational knowledge of persons/groups is explored how to be shared and to be circulated of the characteristics in the multi-group. Based on the results from a nine-month experiment, the relation between information and its keywords is discussed. The characteristics of the use in the multi-group environment are also described.

This paper describes view sharing control scheme for CSCW. Sharing information is an essential function of group collaboration system. We define three hierarchial levels of control for sharing information, View sharing, Processing sharing and Data sharing. A group collaboration is achieved with the combination of these three control scheme. This paper focuses on view sharing control. Proposed scheme enables multiple PCs to share their RGB signals, and any participant can control remote PCs by sending keyboard and mouse input signals, and we developed a testbed system using this scheme. This system can dynamically and flexibly switch the sender and receiver of these signals. The control scheme provides a tightly collaborative computer networking environment.

Data exchange control scheme in a group application program is proposed for maintain data consistency of the application among remote users. Multimedia and Multiparty Desdesktop con-ferencing system, called MERMAID, provides communication functions to the group application The group application program support group cooperative work, and the proposed scheme is based on replicated architecture, which the application program runs at each site. Existing scheme distributes input events among remote site, then data exchange between group applications and external resources can not be supported, for example, users can not paste the data cut from a local application into the group application. Proposed scheme cinsists of input events distribution and application-specific messages distribution. The application-specific messages are defined cor-responding to the application functions. The application-specific message distribution enable the control of application-depend functions.

It is considered to reduce overhead works of meeting that teleconference or groupeware systems are introduced on to buisiness environment. The main aimes of introduction of these systems are reduction of long trip. We can see many systems that are on used in business. However, some users of these systems are frustrated by ruck of real effects and efriclency of these systems. Almost of them feel the necessary to meet the opponent menbers by face to face. Whenever we attended a conference, we often feel long redundant wasted time, too much documents, difficulty to manage document, etc,. Then, we proposed conference system for conference room, which use the notebook type personal-cornputer with large merit it to be possible to carry and cheaply, which assumes the document to be a main media. And we examin the treatment of document, system composes, demanded technic.

User's operation is troublesome for retrieving his desired pictures in existing database systems with a menu retrieval method. The menus conversion scheme is proposed that menus which information providers (IP) have registered are converted into user's own menus based his operational properties. In this paper, the techniques of realizing the menus conversion scheme are investigated. The menus conversion scheme and the existing one are also evaluated. Information centers collect histories on user's retrieval and convert IPs' menus into user's own menus by utilizing his histories and so on after user's requirement. And it is cleared that the menus conversion scheme is superior to the existing one.

Recently, a new idea for visual communication called 'Knowledge Based Coding' was proposed, and has been studied by many researchers. We have been studying Media Conversion based on this idea to convert a text to talking images, utilizing knowledges of relation between uttering and shape around mouth. So far, we implemented a PC-based experimental system for the Media Conversion from Japanese sentence to talking images with the synchronously synthesized voice. In this report, an implementation of voice synthesis algorithm on PC, and application of this system in an audio-visual electronic mail are described.

This paper proposes a video coding control method using stereophonic peech sounds. Since talker's expression is generally more important than that of other attendants, the proposed method precisely encodes around a talker's face by detecting the talke's location from time delay between right and left microphone outputs. Together with some possible approaches based on the proposed idea, an actual control strategy for H.261 coding is presented with simulation results, where a pre-determined quater (QCIF) part is assined for thr talker's window within a full (CIF) frame.
