p-type CdS films were fabricated by the doping of Cu. Cu diffused easily into CdS film when CdS was deposited on a Cu film at 200℃. The Seebeck coefficient. Hall coefficient etc. showed p-type characteristics. The layers of copper compounds such as p-type Cu_2S have not been observed by the X-ray diffrac-tion and optical absorption. The photoluminescence spectra suggest the formation of shallow levels of the acceptor. CdS(Cu)/CdS junction cells showed a good rectification and photovoltaic effects. and emitted the weak blue-green light under large forward current density at 77K. The response of CdS(Cu)/CdSe junction cells broadened out into absorption edge of CdSe. No evidence of the presence of p-type Cu_2S was detected in the characteristics of the cells.

We have developed keV-X-ray microscope systems to diagnose laser-imploded plasma. High spatial resolution was realzed with an advanced Kirkpalric-Beaz type X-ray microscope. The microscope have a spatial resolution of less 3μm in the visual field of 1mm. Three dimensional measurement of X-ray images was made with multi-channel X-ray pinhole cameras. AII of the X-ray images were detected with X-ray CCD cameras, which were controled one personalcomputer.

We have been developing x-ray framing cameras for inertial confinement fusion. An x-ray framing camera with 30-ps resolution based on the conventional gating technique of microchannel-plates for the Gekko Xll laser system have been constructed. A new type of x-ray framing camera with better temporal resolution than 20-ps is also under development. Here have report is the conceptual design of the new x-ray imager.

Two-dimensional temporally resolved beam diagnostic method for intense ion beams, intended for ion beam fusion, is developd This is an extension of one-dimensional Arrayed Pinhole Camera (APC) with time integrated detector [K.Yasuike, S. Miyamoto and S.Nakai, Review of Scientific Instruments, (to be published).] A two-dimensional correlation analysis of the arrayed images yields an intensity distribution and an angular two-dimensional distributions (beam divergence) of pulsed ion beam. A temporal resolution is obtained by using a gated micro channel plate (MCP) as a time resolved ion detector, Achieved spatial and angular resolutions are smaller than 1 mm and better than 20 mrad, respectively. A temporal resolution is about 15 ns that is determined by a width of the gating pulse and a MCP gain characteristic. This two-dimensional APC was successfully tested on a magnetically insulated pulsed ion diode, which generates an annular Proton [H^+] beam of energy 1 MV, current density of -10 A/cm^2,pulse duration of 100 ns. The results show that the ion beams accelerated by the magnetically insulated diode have direction-dependent beam beam divergence.

HARPICON is an image pickup tube featuring high sensitivity and high resolution without deteriorating the picture quality. Its features are based on an avalanche multiplication effect in its amorphous photoconductor. A 25 mm magnetic focus & deflection type HARPICON with 64 times sensitivity compared to SATICON has been developed by optimizing the thickness and structure of the photoconductor for industrial applications. The tube utilized in a TV camera with differential function has been confirmed to show superior features in surface inspection, such as defect or uneven inspection, and flow visualization.

Parametric piecewise functions are used throughout the computer graphics to describe shapes freely. For many applications, it would be useful to be able to reliably derive this description from a closely spaced set of points that approximate the desired curve, such as the input from a camera or a scanner. This paper presents a solution to the problem of automatically generating efficient piecewise parametric conic and quadratic polynominal approximations to shapes from sampled data. And we view an applications of spline curves in the future.

We propose hybrid optoelectronic hamming net processor composed of optical hamming layer and electronic maxnet. The optical hamming layer consists of the two stacked ferroelectric liquid crystal panels, and therefore large capacity and high density can be achieved. The electronic maxnet of this system has also advantage of high resolution because each node is composed of two comparators.

We have demonstrated that the dynamic 3D vision can be achieved by using a parallel and distributed system. The input images are parallelly processedthrough two pathways and then integrated. In one pathway, the intensity of the input signals in the same depth plane are processed with the state equations found in our psychological experiments. In the other, the correlations of the right and left planes with the same depth arc calculated by using the reaction-diffusion equations, proposed by H.Haken et al. in their synergetic computer. The dynamic 3D image can be constructed by integration of outputs of the two pathway. Since our system is composed of autonomous distributed elements, it enables the real time processing of the images.
