    A new high performance 3.5 inch magneto-optical disk drive that allows realtime recording of MPEG 2 encoded motion picture has been developed and commercialized. Laser Strobe Magnetic Over-lap Recording method achieved 20 minutes long 4 Mbytes/sec quality motion picture sinking into 3.5 inch optical disk cartridge.

    A new optical disk system was developed with read compatibility to CD. CD-ROM disc CD-ROM portion of this "PD" drive has 4X speed and rewritable portion uses phase-change rewritable media with overwrite capability. An optical head has been developed and introduced to PD drive. The optical bead has newly developed polarized hologram and laser diode unit integrated with photo diode. A new phase-change disk is also developed with high sensitivity for data recording. A digital serve system in the PD drive is capable to keep compatibility with CD-ROM disk and rewritable disk, and new cache system is also capable to read and write the movie file to the PD disk smoothly.

    Recently, there are a lot of disk based video editing products which are called "Non-linear-editing system" out there. But all of them, except our products, needs to use video tapes as material and finished products. There are no compatibility between those systems right now. Our goal is "All Digital Material Solution" which allows you to shoot your subjects into hard drives by digital camera, send digital materials via network as compatible format, edit them with several systems which are made by her company each, air them from disks, and archive them into media servers.

    Iomega Corp. of the United States has developed 100MB removable Zip disk as s new floppy disk suited to Multimedia era, and has Introduced it to the US market this March. Though new products such as MO have been suggested for removable disk, none of which have met the demand for the price performance in the market in regard to price and reliability. Iomega Corp., combining a rationalization to the design and conventional technology, has achieved both hard disk like speed and esae of use of floppy disk in a single Zip drive for as low as \29,800 for I drive and \2,680 for a disk.

    Thin layer metal media technology has been applied to high density floppy disks. Such disk media show a good performance for high density digital recording, e.g. a high output, a sharp pulse waveform, and good overwrite characteristics. Thin layer metal disk media are capable of making rapid progress in the capacity of floppy disks and has been put to practical use in 100MB Zip disk.
