ジャーナル フリーSo far the agitatian of reaction vessel for photographic emulsion has been done empirically and habitually. Evaluation method of agitation efficiency by the use of photoelectric measurement of transmittance variations in the reaction vessel and its recording by pen-recorder was tested. 600 ml of 1% gelatine solution which contain 5.0 ml of 1 M KI solution at 38°C in 1000 ml tall-beaker was used as test solution, and 5.0 ml AgNO3 was added quickly, and its transmittance variations were monitored with the lapse of time by photoelectric pen-recorder. By the addition of AgNO3 solution, the transmittance of reaction vessel decrease suddenly and gradually increase again according to the agitation proceeding, and reach to definite value. The time interval of this process will be correspond to the agitation efficiency of each type of stirring rod.
The agitation efficiencies of fourteen different types of stirring rods on various rotation speeds were tested by the above mantioned measuring method. These results are showed and discussed.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (7020K) -

ジャーナル フリーDevelopment center distribution and form of developed silver produced by lith and ordinary development of lith emulsions with and without polyethylene oxides (PEO) are observed by electron microscope. PEO has no influence on ordinary development of the emulsions. In lith development of the emulsion containing PEO, a fairly long induction period is observed which terminated by explosive development. After lith development, silver specks of about 1000Å in diameter are recognized even in the region of optical density equal to zero. ジャーナル フリーViscosities, jelly strengths, setting points, and swellings of gelatin and polyvinyl alcohol were effected with thiocyanate salts and/or sulfate salts.
Viscosity of 62/3% hide gelatin solution decreased about 10% by adding ammonium thiocyanate and potassium one. but increased about 10% by adding sodium thiocyanate, lithium one, and magnesium one. Viscosities of 7% polyvinyl alcohol solution decreased 15%, 20%, 25% by adding potassium thiocyanate, sodium one, and a ammonium one in the concentrations of 1.0 to 1.5 M, but increased by adding magnesium thiocyanate, In the case of adding sulfates, viscosities of gelatin were in the order of NH4+<Na+<Mg++<A1+++, and those of polyvinyl alcohol were in the order of NH4+<Na+<Mg++.
Jelly strength and setting point of 62/3% hide gelatin solution reduced to a half when 0.5 M thiocyanate were added, and those of gelatin incerased to 20-30 percent when organic acid salts were added.
Thickness of swelled X-ray film processed by thiocyanate salt solution was 20-30 times (to 600-1200μin thickness) that of original film and in the case of polyvinyl alcohol emulsion it swelled 6-7 times (to 160-200μ in thickness).
The swelling is suppressed by the addition of sodium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, and aldehyde and the order of suppression for gelatin was sodium, aldehyde, magnesium. That for polyvinyl alcohol was reverse.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (1169K) -

ジャーナル フリーComputer algorithm of metameric color matching in subtractive color photography has been established using nonlinear optimization by Simplex technique. Suitable computer program has been developed for an IBM-1130 computer in Fortran IV language. Merits and Demerits of this technique are discussed in comparison with the Newton-Raphson approximation and the Regula-Falsi method.
