While smartphones have led to a dramatic increase in the number of people taking photographs, the market for con- ventional still cameras has been shrinking. However, the rise of mirrorless cameras have led to a resurgence in the market for interchangeable-lens still cameras and interchangeable lenses. This is due to the reshaping of the market for both professional photographers(hereafter referred to as“professionals”)and advanced amateurs(hereafter re- ferred to as“high-amateurs”), with more advanced functions for professionals and more sophisticated hobbies for high-amateurs. The reason why the latter group of amateurs continues to exist is that still cameras are driven by the human“senses,”or the three senses of sight, touch and hearing, all of which influence each other to exert a synergis- tic effect. In this consideration, the author conducted a preliminary survey focusing on“sound”and“vibration,”which are important factors in the characteristics of still cameras that are held in the hand, and obtained data on adjective pairs that describe each and the specific camera names corresponding to each.
