The objective of this paper is to show the application of moire fringes method to investigate the distribution of plastic strains and the plastic deformations in plates subjected to the bearing stress in bearing type connection. The variations in mechanical properties of connected plates are SS41 and SM58, and variations in plates shape, i.e. e_1/D=(S-D)/D (See Fig.12) are ranging from 1.5 to 3.5. Results are reported of 60 tests on bolted connections applied to moire fringes method. From these tests and analyses of moire fringes, the following subjects were investigated. 1) Consideration about the plastic strain distribution of the plates. 2) Classification of the ranges of plastic strain states of the plates. 3) The features of load (stress)-displacement relation-ship on the connections. 4) Examinations of allowable stress and allowable values on bearing type connection.

In two-dimensional problem, an elasto-plastic body which has coefficients E_p, ν_p corresponding to E, ν of homogineous elastic body is derived from orthogonally anisotropic body, where E_p, ν_p are represented by the function of stree-strain state. Substitutig the elasto-plastic body for concrete, elastic-plastic analysis of concrete structure is shown by using the finite element method. Effects of the elastic strain energy of the broken element were considered into the calculation replacing the internal stress to be release to node forces of the element. As an example, numerical result and experiment of the simply supported reinforced concrete beam to be subjected to the concentrated load were discussed, and desirable correspondence was shown for deformation, ultimate load and cracks, especially for tendency of tri-linear characteristic of the load-deformation curve. Moreover, change of the mechanism of equilibrium for the model after cracking is obtained by the numerical method.

The process to failure of reinforced concrete members subjected to axial force, bending moment and shearing force is examined by utilizing the finite element method. This paper deals with the theory of nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete members and mainly describes the analytical procedures for material nonlinearity of concrete including cracks. The following assumptions are made in the analysis : 1) The fracture surface of concrete consists of both ductile and brittle fracture surfaces. 2) The yield surface is similar to the ductile fracture surface. 3) A crack of concrete occurs at the brittle fracture surface. 4) The direction of the crack is perpendicular to that of the maximum principal stress. 5) The concept of plastic potential can be applied to the concrete in plastic region. 6) The concrete near cracks is equivalent to the orthotropic material.

On this paper, numerical analysis of arbitrary plane steel frames considering above two non-linearities is demonstrated by the Matrix Methods based on the variational principle and the Step by Step Method.

It has been known experimentally that the strength and rigidity of the welded steel trusses of tubular construction will often be decreased by the local deformations taken place at their panel points. Therefore in order to make these local deformations as small as possible and to utilize the merits in the structural shape-trusses, the author devised a welded steel truss in which the T-structural shape (half the H-structural shape) is adopted for its chord members and the steel tube for its web members. In this welded steel truss we shall be able to adopt two kinds of panel points in the construction of its panel points, such as the eccentric and non-eccentric panel points. In this paper a type of above mentioned welded steel trusses is treated, of which the panel points are non-eccentric panel ones. A specimen is tested to find its strength and rigidity in elastic range under the vertical concentrated loading at a panel point of its upper chord member, and the results in this test are discussed in comparison with the results of the theoretical analysis on consideration of the second stresses for the welded steel trusses. The results are as follows. The elastic behaviors of the specimen in the test were found to satisfy most of the results of the theoretical analysis and the foundation to get a elasto-plastic analysis for this welded steel trusses was established.

In the previous paper, the author reported the theory of the Chain Construction with Elastic Joints from the result of the experimental study on the Sandwich Curtain Wall. And the other paper dealt with a practical analysis in the framework with Elastic Joints regarded as a structural member which may be deformed as well as a beam or a column. Namely the structural members connected to a joint rotate in proportion the bending moment acting on those end of the members and the rotation may be caused by the shear deformation of the joint panel. Then it was assumed that bending deformation of the panel is disregarded and the panel part in joint is enclosed with rigid members whose ends are hinged. The present paper deals with the elastic analysis of the frame with panel joints which rotates and is deformed by shearing force.

These studies have been conducted to analyze the Man-Space system with the discipline of system engineering. The ultimate purpose of these studies is to establish theories and methods with which the Man-Space system might be controlled. The purpose of this particular study, Part III, is to establish with the application of information theory a concept of amount of information ranging from the first degree to the third degree and thus to grasp the system as software. The basic idea underlying this study is that by increasing the degree of amount of information, it should become possible to grasp the dynamic aspects of the system, while explaining details of the system.

Organization and type of rooms with these centre. 5. Utilization-rate. 6. Purposes of those groups which use these establishments. 7. Purposes of those groups which use each of the various rooms. 8. Relationship of user's home or place of employment to the centre. 9. Distribution of place of residence of persons using the centers. 10. Relationship of rental charge, charge for use, and charge free institution, and frequency of use of these establishments. 11. Relationship of place of residence or work and the situation of the centre considered, on a rental or suspice system. 12. Relationship in terms of distance of place of residence or work of the users and the situation of the situation of the centre, and a comparison with the users of similar other establishments for the same purpose.

This is the fourth report of the fundamental investigations for the planning of the public library system to community area in Japan. The paper describes, this time, how children read books and how they use libraries. Some of the results are as follows : 1) Children read a good many books compared with the adults, that are counted 5〜6 volumes per month on average. 2) Children use libraries more frequently compared with the adults. The public library use was, in some cases, most familiar source of book reading as well as the school library use. 3) Most of young children visit libraries to read or borrow books, while some of the senior children use the libraries only for the school task reserving the seat without borrowing books. 4) The geographic range of the clienteles of the public library, in case of children, is limitted within the area of radius of several hundreds metres at most.
