Basic equilibrium equations were derived to calculate numerically the buckling strength of H-section beams under various kind of restraints. These equations, being equivalent to the classical differential equations on the problem, take more intuitively comprehensive expressions than the classical does, and allow easy application to complicated buckling problem. Based on the equations, the buckling strength of beams under restraints exerted by slabs resting on the beam was analyzed under the loading of the couple of bending moments about strong axis at the both ends of the beam. It was clarified that the torsional restraint due to the flexural rigidity of the slab can enhance considerably the buckling strength. Numerical results were summarized in simple formulae with which the influence of the flexural rigidity of the slab on the buckling strength can be readily estimated.

When the structures are subjected to multi-input seismic waves, two methods which are spectral analysis and time history analysis, are considered. In this paper the data which are needed in the analyses are researched. The theoretical correlation functions and spectral density functions between acceleration, velocity and displacement in three cases, are obtained. Those three cases are (a) the same seismic waves, (b) the seismic waves which have the same wave and the time lag and (c) the seismic waves which have only different Fourier amplitude spectra. From mean values of several power spectral density functions in accelerations, one equation is made, and mean square power and cross power spectral density functions are obtained. As the time history analysis, the method (a) by Fourier trans-form and the method (b) that the simulation of the seismogragh is used, are studied. The method (a) is the way that the lower frequency part of the Fourier amplitude spectra is cut off. The relations of the maximum values of the result's acceleration, velocity and displacement, are given with the cut-off frequency ω_c. The best result is given when the cut-off frequency ω_c equals to 1.0. The method (b) is the way that uses the filter which is disital simulation of simple pendulum. The velocity is obtained by the filter of which the period is too long, and the displacement is obtained by the filter of which the period and the damping coefficient are respectively 2.0sec. and 0.8, and the displacement's amplification factor equals to 2.7.

The movement of ground surface during an earthquake would not be necessarily identical even in relatively limited plane, but possible to have spatial variation. In this sense mathematical expressions of cross spectral density functions among such ground motions have been investigated from various standpoints, from which associated transfer functions of soil-foudation system have been analytically derived herein. This paper mainly consists of the following contents. In Section 2 some earthquake observations performed in past both on the building foundation and on ground surface in its vicinity are reviewd from above-mentioned point of view. Section 3 describes the technique by which the response of rigid foundation due to multiple inputs is evaluated in a frequency domain through the probabilistic theory. In Section 4 the cross spectral density functions of statistically correlated ground motions are expressed in mathematical forms together with corresponding transfer functions of soil-foundation system obtained by the method discussed in Section 3, the results of which are compared with those of observations shown in Section 2. Ground motions with phase difference in addition are also dealt with in Section 5.

This paper describes the theoretical method to analyze, on basis of three-dimensional wave propagation theory, dynamic characteristics of a structure with rounded corners rectangular section, which is embedded in a surface stratum on Bed Rock. This method is approximate, but boundary value problems between side wall and surface stratum can be solved with good accuracy by introducing orthogonal functions. For numerical example, facters to determine the dynamic characteristics of an embedded structure with square section are calculated. From this numerical results, equivalent circular radius for square section might be evaluated.

Tightning characterestics that are torque coefficients and nut turning coefficients studied empirically on two level bolt lengths (2.5 times and 5.0 times the diameter), and four level diameters (16mm, 20mm, 22mm, 24mm). Experements were carried out at various temperatures (-20℃, 0℃, 20℃, 40℃). The bolt-sets used for the tests were JIS B 1186, F 10 T class high-strength bolts. The following conclusions were obtained from the experiments. The firm relation was observed between temperatures and torque coefficients, depending on the rolling friction coefficients between nut and bolt that change in accordance with temperature. The change of torque coefficients was some -6.15×(10)^<-4> per 1℃. But there was no co-relation between temperatures and nut turning coefficients.

Following remarks are attained by beam column tests of Steel-Reinforced Concrete Members whose steel section is full-web type and the grade of steel used is SM 50 which is similar to ST 52 in quality. (1) Yield shearing strength of Steel-Reinforced Concrete Column, which tends to increse with axial load of the column, may be expressed by Eq. (10) as seen in Fig.21 (a). (2) Yield bending strength of Steel-Reinforced Concrete Column can be expressed by Eq. (9) and also maximum bending strength of Steel-Reinforced Concrete Column can be obtained by superposed strength method as seen in Fig.21(b) and (c). (3) The astringed strength by cyclic loading whose deformation amplitude is about ±0.01 radian can be expressed by Eq. (11). (4) The deformation amplitude when the hysteretic loop comes to be unstable by cyclic loading decreases with the increase of the axial load of the column (see, Fig.23).

This investigation dealt with the severe wind velocity induced with tall buildings that recently became a subject of discussion all at once. It is important how deal with the phenomena related this severe air flow, in connection with not only an individual building but the spacific future image on the urban form and social-economical field of vision. The high wind region in this work has been investigated by simulation that based the method depened on agreement of the atmospheric turbulence structure (wind profile index α, turbulence intencity, scale, and shape of power spectrum etc.) in the city. The high wind region founded from experiment were carryed out by useing the many simple models and varing the parameters (buildings height, wide, depth and wind direction) which influence to size of this region, the difinition of this region is u/U⩾1.0 (u=velocity induced with building and U=velocity as not building). As the result, (1) the higher building increase, the larger rate of high wind and its region. (2) It was found that the maximam value of u/U exceed 1.5 at the wind direction about θ=15°. (3) The phenomena of deverse wind caused at the windside of building when the building's wide exceeded the building's height.

This paper is concerned with there dimensional flow visualization to examine the adequacy of numerical solution of room air distribution. The shape of room model which is same as the mumerical study in the former report is a cube with outlet at the center of the ceiling and inlet at the bottom center of the side wall. Water is used instead of air for the conveniecnce of visualization, and powder of light cake made of wheat-gluten is used as tracer. Reynolds numbers based on the length and the velocity of outlet are 1000-8000. Some characteristic features of visualized flow are given below. 1) Injected jet falls straight down, 2) then spreads radially over the bottom surface. 3) Upward stream from four corners of the bottom to the ceiling is notable. 4) At the other part upward stream does not reach to the ceiling but recirculates inside. 5) Near the ceiling stream spreads radially from the corner of the ceiling, then falls down at the center. 6) Flow near the inlet is complicated and periodic movement is observed. 7) Flow across the symmetrical plane is seen momentary, but as an average symmetry is maintained.

In this present paper we discuss the problems of the building-planning for the audio-visually handicapped people. In order to discuss them properly, it is necessary to begin with to have the definite knowlege as to what are the audio-visually handicapped people from the viewpoint of building planning, and also as to how they are classified from the viewpoint both of general learning and of administration. But the knowledge gained in this way may not be useful the building-planning because the classification is too detailed for the real purpose of it. So it is necessary to see what consideration should be taken into when we classify the above-mentioned handicapped people from the viewpoint of the building-planning and also necessary to know what problems the people have when they use buildings. Throgh our discussion on these two items. We know the fact that the audio-visually handicapped people are not mere by blind nor deaf, but actually they have a lot of problems of various kinds when they use building.

In the Kansai district, there are many houses builted before the war. Recently, some researches about the houses were presented. But they do not answere enough how to remewal the houses. In this paper, I make clear the renewel-mechanism proceeding almost apontaneously. The summary is as follows. There are two problems. One is to become superannuated. Another is to become poor environment after individual-renewal. The former, we can find amoung the almost rented-houses. Probabry, the rented-houses will be decreasing. But there will be the most super-annuat houses left. So first of all, we must think this type how to renewal. The later, such process is found after the rented houses was sold. For this type we have to make renewal enter into partnership.
