The purpose of this investigation is to explain fundamental behavior of cylindrical mortar specimens, when they were subjected to dynamic compressive force by a drop-hammer impacting apparatus, and to obtain the comparative test method of dynamic compressive strength of concrete materials. This report consists of three experiments. (Experiment-I) examinated the relations between dynamic stress and dynamic strain of three kinds of mortar specimens when subjected to dynamic compressive force. (Experiment-II) examinated the relation between dynamic energy and dynamic compressive stress under the dynamic compressive force. (Experiment-III) examinated the effect of shape or size of mortar specimens under the dynamic compressive force. Brief of the results of this investigation was as follows. (1) Dynamic compressive stress σ_D of motar specimen is in proportion to a square root of dynamic energy √<U_D> until the mortar specimens were just broken. That is σ_D=α√<U_D> If this relation and the drop-height just when mortar specimens were broken were applied as a factor of strength, dynamic compressive strength of mortar specimens can be presume. (2) Dynamic compressive strength of mortar specimens is 1.8〜2.3 times as static compressive strength. Maximum dynamic strain is 3.0〜4.0×10^-3 as large as maximum static strain independent of impact velocity and weight of a drop-hammer. (3) Dynamic compressive strength of mortar specimen feels the effect of shape or size of specimens as well as static compressive strength. That is, as ratio of the height to the diameter of mortar specimens h/d grow large, dynamic compressive strength becomes smaller. Even if h/d=constant, as the size of mortar specimens grow large, that become smaller.

The various theoretical failure criterions proposed previously by authors and other investigators were expressed in the different forms-σ_1-σ_2-σ_3, x-y-m, y-m, and p-τ_m-m relation. These theoretical failure criterions were compared with experimental facts in literatures under the above expressions. The results have proved that the failure criterions by authors agree most closely with the experimental facts in comparison with others. Constants involved in author's criterion have been decided by the least square method from as many experimental data as we can collect in literature. [numerical formula]

Nowadays a number of composite materials made from inorganic cementing materials like Normal Portland Cement and Gypsum are used in building materials. There studies are requested to find out the composite mechanism of these inorganic composite materials and to design new composite materials using the resources which utilization is socially demended. Then we have carried out some experiments and taken some considerations on inorganic composite materials. While the method to use Gypsum in building materials is some part of the theme, because Gypsum is a new resource which should be utilized effectively in Japan. The study is consist of some parts following this paper (part 1) and they are titled "Gypsum as The Matrix Phase in Composite Materials" "Particle Reinforcement" "Fiber Reinforcement" "Relations between Improved Properties of Particle or Fiber Reinforced Matrices and Structural Performances of Members" "Bond Mechanism between Reinforcing Bars and Inorganic Matrices" "Skelton Reinforcement" "Dispersion Strengthening". In this paper (part 1) experimental results on basic properties of Gypsum are reported and concluded as follows. Among Gypsum, II-anhydrite and α-calcium sulfate hemihydarte are suitable to be used as the matrix phase of composite materials by which form Gypsum is to be utilized in building materials.

The object of the pressent paper is to formulate The Theory of the Construction with Elastic Joints for the linear static analyses of the precast reinforced concrete wall construction built by the precast reinforced concrete blind panels. This paper intends to obtain theoretically the mechanical behavior of the precast reinforced concrete wall construction under horizontal force by an earthquake shock. With the view to studing an intension, analysis is carried out under the following assumptions : 1. The rigidity of blind panels are infinite quality outside rigidity of shearing. 2. Those blind panels are got in the joint frame. 3. Rigidity of expansion and construction, shearing and bending in joints around blind panels are basically accepted.

This report is to find how to plan when the households with the handicapped build their owned houses and improvement their owned or private rented houses. Two consideration methods are required in order to approach to that theme. The first consideration is to recognize what specific features and housing needs on the housing life have various kinds of households. The second is to recognize what plan of houses have merits and demerits to the households with the handicapped. This is the study about private rented houses on the former standpoint. Main results of this research are as follows : 1. Main dwellers are consited of the newclear family households that their husband is handicapped. 2. Most of the handicapped are able to transfer by walking and driving wheel chair, and few are <H> and <B> lying down. 3. The working handicapped in their rented houses account for so high percentage. 4. Most of the rented houses consist of the small plan, composed two sleepable room, and 〓K〓 type. 5. The tendency is showed that the handicapped make efforts to perform their part in household. It is remarkable that many handicapped husbands are working in their houses, and then have a room to themselves for working. As the result, the concentrate and confusion of their main housing life behaviors are caused. 6. It is so difficult for the handicapped to have their private sleeping rooms. Though the handicapped children need their private room especially, they are not able to occupy private children's room. 7. Though one room dwelling is suited to small and simple household, a marked tendency to ovelapp main house living activities in one room is seen about any household.

In the present paper we shall try to clarify the tendency of spatial distribution concerning the establishments in Fukuoka City. Here, we analyze the pattern of spatial distribution statistically and then endeavor to find the forms of distribution. Generally, there are three forms for this distribution pattern, i.e. uniform, random and aggregated form. In our researches, however, we find that all establishments show the aggregated pattern strongly, e.g. wholesales and retail trades, finances and insurances, eating and drinking places, and spacial manufacturings show this tendency especially.

In the present paper the author indicates that the main factors involved in the changes of environment are the subdivision of housing sites and the increase in the number of apartment buildings. The paper is primarily concerned with the former. The researches were conducted in two blocks and several other areas along the Toyoko and Odakyu Lines in Meguro and Setagaya Wards during the periods 1928〜1974 (for two blocks) and 1969-1974 (for several other areas) respectively The results obtained may be summarized as follows : (1) The subdivision of housing sites and the changes in land ownership can be witnessed on an extensive scale in the areas surveyed. (2) These were caused by the leaseholders' buying-up of their leased plots, land, aquisition by inheritance, and land trading. (3) The active participation of corporations in land ownership has contributed to accelerating land subdivision.

This paper deals with how Public Housing dwellers assess the present housing condition, and what they require. The conclusions are as follows; 1) Public Housing is one of the highest ratio of housing dissatisfaction in the all kinds of tenures. And it's ratio is getting increased in these years. 2) The ratio of housing dissatisfaction in Public Housing dwellers is absolutely high, but judging from the standpoint of dwelling standards, it is relatively lower than the other tenures. 3) The ratio of housing dissatisfaction of Public Housing dwellers is much more higher than that of the whole citizens in each cities, and this fact is much more in local town. 4) There are two types for the reason of dissatisfaction. One is "Minus type in dissatisfactory reason", and another is "Plus type in dissatisfactory reason". That is the complaint against the dwelling standard-too small, and this is against the policy of Public Housing-too expensive. And the dwellers who have "Minus type dissatisfaction" don't assess Public Housing as the permanent resident, but those who have "Plus type dissatisfaction" answer in the affirmative assessment for Public Housing itself. 5) "Excess small space" in Public Housing has two ranks. The first rank is the stage for the requirement of the dining-sleeping space separation and the more space for bedroom etc. The second one is the stage for living space or work space etc. The average of dweller's density is 3.0〜3.5 tatami (4.9〜5.7m^2) per person in the first rank, and is 4.0〜4.5 tatami (6.5〜7.3m^2) per person in the second rank. The level of these ranks are nearly equal in every city. It means that the requirement for the minimum dwelling standard is wholly universal in different regions. 6) The dwelling standard of Public Housing is still under the desirable level. So dweller's assessment is mainly dominated by the space problem. That makes rather impossible to present the local characteristics.

In 1850, George Gilbert Scott expressed his idea on the restoration in his pamphlet "A Plea for the Faithful Restoration of Our Ancient Churches". Although he insisted on "Conservatism" in restoration, his actual works made it clear that he had a strong prejudice in favour of the Middle Pointed style of Gothic. When an architect had his own favourite style of architecture, his restoration works would be influenced by his favour. We do not appreciate these types of restoration. But in the Victorian Age, architects restored buildings to bring them back into the ideal style. And they never thought themselves doing wrong. In fact we cannot say them wrong. But our modern way of restoration differs much from those of them. It would possibly be said that it was the difference between modern and pre-modern attitude to the past. In G. G. Scott, we can find typical Victorian way of restoration.
