The purpose of this paper is to analyze the household structure of public housing residents, that is, age of household heads, household members and family type of household. The conclusions of analyses about the household structure in this paper and the social stratum in the last papers are integrated as follows, 1. The ratios of public housing stock are between 2〜7% to the total tenure of dwelling houses. Its ratio is higher in the metropolitan city than in the local city. However, these figures indicate 11〜13% to the total rented houses, so in the ratio to the rented houses, discrepancies in locality are very little. 2. The characteristics of the public housing residents in the social stratum and household structure are summarized as follows, that is, lower class in household income, labourer in occupation, younger in age of household head, fewer in household members and younger family nuclei in the family type of household. 3. Above-mentioned characteristics are more remarkably indicated in the local cities, and they are also indicated more in the second class public housing residents in comparison with the first class public housing residents. 4. However, among the different localities there are remarkable discrepancies in these above difinitions. In the metropolitan big city, the pattern of the public housing residents, especially the first class public housing residents are approximately equal to the ordinary citizen, that is, average dweller of all tenure of dwelling houses in the above-mentioned items. So, it is not appropriate to situate the public housing residents in the metropolitan city as a some specified class. 5. On the other hand, in the small rural city needy persons account for the considerable percentage of the public housing residents. They have following characteristics, that is, the lowest class in income, day or non-occupation in occupation, elder in age and one person household in family type of household.
