The arc welded joints of high strength deformed bars have been studied. Butt, lap, and splice joints were used. The ultimate strength of high strength deformed bars varied from 60, 000 psi to 80, 000psi. Ordinary manual arc welding and enclosed are welding were used. The results are obtained as follows : (a) the bend test about the short beaded is the most convenient method to determine the weldability of the bars; (b) suitable preheating is needed to obtain good welded joints.

This paper is an application of the random vibration theory in earthquake engineering, from which a general analytical method is developed for the response of a multi-story building with a linear stable system subjected to earthquake excitation. This analytical method is applied to evaluate the response of a three story building subjected to an accelerometer recording of the Tokachi-Oki earthquake. Expected maximum story displacements and expected number of cycles with varying intensities of the repeated story shearing forces due to the strong ground motion are computed and compared with the corresponding values obtained by a deterministic analysis method. Hence, a dynamic response prediction method for the expected intensity of future earthquakes is here by discussed.

In the previous paper, writers have reported about the post buckling behaivior of the inelastic steel beams from mental hospitals for the planning of regional psychiatric service network. under uniform moment. Although, in the practical case, the beams under various moment gradient exist frequently. Herein writers will report about the beams under moment gradient. The purpose of this experiment is to relate the rotation capacity to the bracing space and the moment gradient. Generally beams under moment gradient have higher value of carrying capacity than Mp. And then beams under moment gradient collapse due to the local buckling on the compression flange. Following important points can be obtained from this experimental study. 1) It may be resulted that the rotation capacity of beams under moment gradient depends on the curvatur jump. 2) It should not be neglected that the rotation capacity was affected greatly by the ration of moment gradient. 3) Beams which had the ratio of moment gradient more than 0.5 should be analyzed as the beams under uniform moment becaus of its behavior. Summarizing the test results of the bracing force. 1) The bracing forth on inelastic beams was about 3〜5% for axial force in this experiment. It should be noted that the bracing force on inelastic beams was relatively higher than on elastic beams. 2) When the lateral bracing was provided only at the comprssion flange, the tension flange tend to spring up. Therefore it is better that some connecting members are jointed to the tension flange when the bracing members are desighned.

This paper is a theoretical study of columns joint in different diameter steel-pipe columns under normal force and uniform moment. We devise a hollow truncated steel cone in shape, named joint ring, between them. And we begin the elastic analysis by obtaining the equations of equilibrium for the stress, considering an elemental long strip cut from steel-pipe column and joint ring. Making use of Hooke's law, we obtain the differential equation of the deflection curve perpendicular to their generation lines. The solution of the differential equation is described by the function of boundary stress and displacement, considering boundary conditions. Substituting continuous conditions of their boundary stress and displacement in the solution, we obtain the stress at any point.

There are currently approximately 53000 psychiatric beds in general hospitals. This still represents about 25 per cent of all psychiatic beds, but the number is increasing year by year. One of the greatest benefits of it is the total care of the patient, a major concern in the general hospital. And the location of psychiatric unit in general hospitals will do a tremendous amount of good in reducing the stigma of psychiatic illness. We have tried to investigate the present situation of the psychiatry in general hospitals and the difference of it

In this paper, we arranged the previous paper (Part 5〜7) and reported the results of time studies on users of urban facilities, for instance, shopping centers, an art museum, a zoo, hospitals, parking places, railway stations, and facilities in campus. The ratio of concentration of these facilities and the patterns of entering and leaving are shown in Table 8.1 and Fig. 8.1, 8.6. In Fig. 8.2〜8.5, we analysed the pattern of arrival with exponnetial curves and explained the compound mechanism of this pattern.

Up to now, a basic concept in building maintenance has been to use the building as long as possible. since the utility life of building has become shorter due to technical progress and change of social, But situation, it was researched how many years should be considered and how much costs should be paid for their maintenance againt telegraph and telephone office buildings by methode of Operations Research.
