The water absorption of artificial lightweight aggregate in fresh concrete affects the compressive strength of concrete. The effect was investigated experimentally with particular reference on size, quantity and water content of the aggregate, using single sized coarse aggregate. The compressive strength of concrete with dry aggregate is higher than that of surface dry (wet) aggregate concrete when mix proportion is kept constant. The strength of both concrete show linear relationship with the cement water ratio respectively as long as they fail by bond failure of interface between coarse aggregate and cement paste. Herewith the effect of water absorption of aggregate can be regarded as the increase of cement water ratio of mortar for the concrete strength problem. Every aggregate of various size has its own value of the cement-water-ratio increase. The increase is about the same at any water cement ratio mix. The effect is proportional to the volume fraction of coarse aggregate and also is governed by the water content of aggregate. As for the ordinary mixe-sized lightweight aggregate, the increase of the concrete strength caused by the water absorption of aggregate can be obtained from the relationship on each factors above mentioned.

Some recent experimental and theoretical researches have demonstrated that the restoring force characteristics of steel braced frames under cyclic horizontal loads were represented by Reversed-S type loops, and the behaviors of bracings have much influences on the shapes of these hysteresis loops. But the available informations regarding to post-buckling behaviors of bracings under cyclic axial forces are few and much remains to be done. In this paper, we extended the concept of plastic hinges to include plastical deformations, both rotation and contraction, under combination of bending moment and axial force, following to the plastic flow theory. This method was applied to the analysis of the behaviors of bracings under cyclic axial forces. The results of this research are as follows (See Fig. 3-15) 1) The shapes of hysteresis loops are much influenced by the slenderness ratio of the members. 2) Both the maximum strength and the initial stiffness at each half cycle decrease according to increase of loading cycle numbers. 3) a. In short-column range, the maximum strength and the initial stiffness reduce gradually and linearly. b. In intermediate-column range, the compressive maximum strength reduces abruptly, while in another range gradually. c. In long-columu range, the initial stiffness reduce abruptly.

This paper is a theoretical study on beam-to-column connections in thick wall tubular columns. We simplify beam-to-column connections to unti-symmetrical cantilevers and discuss bending of a steel tubular cantilever by a force applied at the virtual free end of it. In the analysis of this probelm, we apply Saint-Venant's flexure theory. We assume that normal stresses over a cross section are distributed in the same manner as in the case of pure bending, and assume that there are two shearing stress components and other three stress components are zero. With these assumptions, we can find the functions of shearing stress components which satisfy the equations of equilibrium, the boundary condition and the compatibility equations.

In this study I will give an outline the main point of the farm houses in these districts and seek after the relation to the plane and the structure with change of the times and consider the process of the gradual development, besides classify the forms of farm houses in these stricts and account for a cause coming into existence of these forms.
