    PainVision®PS-2100 painlessly measures current threshold and quantifies nerve damage. We evaluated PainVision usefulness in indicating diabetic neuropathy. We found that the current perception threshold (CPT) measured by PainVision was related significantly to clinical diabetic neuropathy, i.e., subjective symptoms, Achilles tendon reflex (ATR), CVR-R, and abbreviated diagnostic criteria for diabetic polyneuropathy proposed by the Diabetic Neuropathy Study Group of Japan. We also found that the subjects with an abnormal CPT measured by PainVision showed significantly higher F-wave latency and lower sensory nerve action potential amplitude than those with a normal CPT. Although nerve conduction studies are much more sensitive and rerovide more information than PainVision on various nerve disorders, PainVision is more useful than other clinical diabetic neuropathy evaluations in quantifying diabetic neuropathy objectively and easily.
